Marathon Sets

Inspired by last week's Danny Howells party...

What DJs have you seen play marathon sets?

Danny Tenaglia (15 hours)
Danny Howells (7 hours)
Richie Hawtin (7 hours)
Luciano v. Ricardo Villalobos (8 hours)
Ricardo Villalobos v. Richie Hawtin (9 hours)
Chus & Ceballos (8 hours)
Deep Dish (7 hours)

What DJs play marathon sets would you like to see that you haven't seen yet?

Laurent Garnier
Carl Craig
Villalobos by himself

Let's try to keep this thread specific to DJs that are actually known to play marathon sets, not which DJs that you'd like to see play marathon sets that don't play them.

Also, a marathon set IMO is 6+ hours.

Sasha and f#$%ing Digweed for 8+ hours please. I would also love to hear Sven play for 8+ hours.

I've seen Dish spin for 7-8+ hours on a few occasions.
Dubfire for 8-9 hours at Stereo.
Danny Howells at Footwork.
C&C at Sonic.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head right now....

Tiesto @ Docks (7hrs)
Ferry Corsten @ Kool Haus (8hrs)
Armin van Buuren @ Kool Haus (7hrs)

Most of the ones you listed.
I have also seen

Vibe @ Stereo
Sander @ Stereo (which was amazing...can't believe I just typed that)

I always thought Stereo was great for that cause they would just let the headliner go until they wanted to stop.

There isn't too many people I would want to see an extended set from that I haven't.

1.Villalobos - but it would have to be at the right venue / crowd. I don't want to see him at an extended set at Timewarp. Outside, beach/pool, starting in the late afternoon going until the it gets really dark. I think that would be one hell of a ride he would take up on.
2.Papa Sven - I have heard so much good stuff about his extended Aria set that I would travel far to see him if he was doing an extended set.
3.Laurent Garnier (simply because of the hype for his 8 hour sets at Timewarp)

Ferry Corsten @ Kool Haus (8 hours)
Armin van Buuren @ Kool Haus (8 hours)
Mark Oliver @ Guvernment (9 hours)
Danny Tenaglia @ Guvernment (9-10 hours)

Roaches @ CZ (10 hours).. wish I went

Such as when he played on a beach in Ibiza in front of 3000 people for 10 hours after the Cocoon Closing in 2004?!

SOOO jealous of all that were there.

Too bad this kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore due to the Ibizan authorities. (N)

Villalobos in Chile

Or how about on the Weekend terrace in Berlin?

He played something like a 16 hour set that day. Lol @ the crowd going off at the one minute mark even though it's sunset.

Double lol @ the TV with the soccer game going on behind the DJ booth.

Demi at Boa was something like 8 hours wasn't it? I'd call that a marathon.

Checked this place out when i was in Berlin in the summer, Richie Hawtin absolutely destroyed it. If anyone is in Berlin ever i suggest hitting WeekEnd up, its in a random appt building and you take an elevator up to the 11th floor and then when the door opens its pandemonium!

Hmm. All I can think of is Sven 7 hr set @ Aria (2003) and at least 5 Misstress Barbara sets that were over 6 hours. (The 9 hr one was the longest I believe....and it was all bangin back then.)

Caught parts of DT but I don't think I've ever stuck it out for more than a few hrs of one set. Basically I don't think I've done a marathon set that wasn't during normal waking hours (ie piknic) in over 5 years.

This sums up the insanity of the Sven night - one of my top 5 parties of all time. Holy fuck was it ever good. Graham...you would have loved it. I think this was around 11am, and I just noticed that sounds like me screaming like 4 times in the video.

Wowowow. That's one party I really wish I went to.

:O at the tune at 2:30. I can't even imagine hearing that at 11:00am. Look at all the people that were still there too!

fuck, too many to list... (good thread little g)

my first ever marathon set was Max Graham 7 hours @ Atomic, this is back in like '99 lol... (and it's pretty much set the standard for THE marathon set since)

some notable ones that come to mind...
- Deep Dish 8 hours @ Guv (GU Party)
- Sasha 7 hour @ Fabric
- Chus & Ceballos New Years Day @ Sonic
- Digweed 7 hour @ Fabric (Fabric CD Release Party)
- Danny Howells (Footwork) last weekend was historic no doubt
- Danny T, 6 hours @ Heaven (for Demi's Birthday)

Missed this due to me thinking Deep Dish sucked before discovering prog and spending the entire night watching Mauro Picotto in the KH.

Fail.

Arguably the best "tribal" set I've ever heard.

Sven wanted to keep playing after 7.5 hours but they shut him down to clean the club for deep dish the next night. It was after 12pm I think, and then he chatted with people on the street outside.

There are four other videos on youtube from the same night, more bangin techno than the weird stuff you see in that clip. I got goosebumps watching...such a good night. The recordings of his sets don't convey the overall performance he brings into a club, especially with a booth like the one at aria.

Hahaha, fucking brutal! Too bad he didn't play an afterparty at Stereo or Parking or something.

Posted by Skipper on Nov-02-2008 01:28:

Sven extended set @ Stereo would be amazing. I think the promoters in Mtl have resigned from trying to book him at a reasonable rate though. 2003 was when Aria was raking in cash and booking major techno names.

The great thing about Sven is that he loves to party and will keep playing if he feels like it and the venue lets him. It's getting more rare as he gets older I think.

This is sick.
I want to go back to Berlin just for weekend terrace - love the daytime, weekend (duh) vibe. A guy from my MBA class who is totally not into anything electronic accidentally ended up there while travelling around europe this summer and I wanted to kill him. Who accidentally ends up at a place like that? lol.
