BPM Festival Returns to
Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
January 2-11, 2009

Escape the winter doldrums with the 2nd Annual BPM Festival as it descends upon the stunningly beautiful Playa Del Carmen in Mexico on January 2nd - January 11th, 2009. This years festival has been extended into a full 10 day affair with a roster of first class international DJs and world class talent performing on the Mayan Riviera.

The festivals second installment will commence January 2nd 2009 and run through January 11th 2009. Initially conceived as an exclusive networking event for nightlife professionals from around the world, the festival is now a clubbers xanadu in the number one destination for beach and eco tourism in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean.

BPM Festival producer and Circa Director Craig Pettigrew says, "We're excited to return to Playa del Carmen for the 2nd year with our team of nightlife professionals. The festival provides the perfect escape after the clubbing industry's busiest season and a welcome respite from the cold. With its numerous nightclubs and beautiful pristine beaches, Playa del Carmen is the newest 'IT' destination for global clubbing."

With the extended dates, the BPM Festival 2009 will feature even more top-flight international artists than last year. The daytime beach party sessions will kick off each day with a world-class line-up. The stunning lineup of night time club Artists confirmed so far include; Get Physicals two-headed beast M.A.N.D.Y., flying Dutchman SANDER KLEINENBERG, the King of Space STEVE LAWLER, getting weirder by the minute LEE BURRIDGE, Crosstown Rebels head honcho DAMIAN LAZARUS, Spanish house heartthrob PABLO CEBALLOS [of Chus & Ceballos] and Torontos rising star SEAN MILLER, alongside an ever-expanding line up to be announced over the coming months. Also, Circa residents DOMAN+PETTIGREW will be performing at an exotic underground cave party for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Playa del Carmen is a stunningly beautiful, vibrant part of the Mayan Riviera, located on the pristine Caribbean coast of Mexico. Blessed with miles of unspoiled white sand beaches and crystal-clear Caribbean waters, Playa del Carmen offers an unforgettable time and endless adventures. Filled with a variety of beautiful and affordable boutique hotels and nightclubs, an endless number of places for dining, dancing, beach parties, and clubbing; without a doubt Playa del Carmen has the best ambiance throughout all the Caribbean.

I can honestly say this was one of the best, if not the best, party weeks of my life. My wife is convinced it was her best hands down.

yes, better than WMC and Ibiza.

Really looking forward to this years event. In fact we're skipping christmas and New Years so we can go.

I was only there for the first day of conference last year but was there for NYE and and 5 days before that city goes off. I can't wait for this year I will be there from Dec. 30 - Jan. 9th

omg, i just died looking at that line up!!!!!! are you kidding me???? ryan, i gotta get there too but damnit why can't it be a little earlier. i'm off until the 5th or 6th i think, whatever that monday is. ugh, they really frown on teachers taking off time that extends their already long vacation, lol but still. i wanna goooooooooooooo!!!

Posted by HALO555 on Nov-08-2008 19:24:

not good for teachers. My dad was one and it was nearly impossible to take off extra days.

But the festival is worth it if you can manage it somehow.

If if I had to choose between Ibiza, WMC, or BPM - it would be BPM.

My son's new school has vacation til the 11th. He's at a charter school so he's on a semi different schedule than typical schools out here. He also gets the whole Thanksgiving week off where all schools here go M-W. Oh, did I mention his school hours are 845-315? Yea, the school sucks

I think you'll love it.

Just to be clear though, BPM is not at the level of WMC which is on it's 20something year. WMC is crazy with so many party options and all sorts of djs.

BPM is simply a great new festival with a great lineup over 10 days. The canadian jocks are really good djs as well. Really liked Nitin, Johnny White, and Sean Miller last year. The whole vibe is very chill with great music and scenery (beach and chics).

BPM was really cool because there was none of the headaches or attitudes of WMC.

Wow. How come that had not been announced before ? too bad I already bought flights for after New years. The other problem is that that is peak season for the Cancun area so hotels are pricey and booked.

Did you mean Santanera? If so, it was last year, and I know of at least one party scheduled there this year.

for all you guys that never been del carmen, here some details you should know:

if you fly into Cancun, buses to playa del carmen leave every hour and it should cost around $6 USD. if you fly to cozumel, then you need to take a ferry.

for most of us, its a great time to go to Mexico, because we are getting 30% for pesos for every US dollar ... basically everything is at 30-40% discount against August this year ...

make sure you take siesta, because the party scene really start going around 3am and the best time is after the sunrise around 615 ...

for food-lovers, you need to try:

- La Floresta (best shrimp tacos in Mexico) located on Carretera near Benito Juarez.
- Oasis (awesome sea food in front of La Santanera"
- Pizza Passa (many locations)
- La Parrila (authentic mexican food) on 5th av. and 6.

water temperature on the caribean is the best during december ...

expect plenty of people, maybe too many ...

off course... you wanna spend all day at playa mamitas ... if you want to find a "palapa" or a bed at playa mamitas, you either make reservation in advance or you get there at 7am
