Best Club in Canada ?

Allright... which is the BEST club in Canada? let's not compare the music, clientelle or anything like that. Let's just compare venues - size, light, sound, drink prices etc.

IMHO the best club in Canada is Revolution in Waterloo.
# Capacity - 1500.
# Sound - allright.
# LOTS and I mean LOTS of sitting space.
# Dance floor - pretty big.
# Pool tables available
# Food available
# Hot bartenders
# Drinks cheaper than in most places in Toronto.
# No smoking allowed on the dance floor ! People are only allowed to smoke in a designated spot. It's true, you can actually come home not smelling like a cigarette.
# Light - I think it's very good.
# Go Go dancers.
# Club decorations - Club looks beautiful.

On a side note. This club has seen the likes of Deep Dish, Voodoo and Serano. And the best part is, regardless of a special event, it's always free before 11(I guess it's cause there are so many broke students in Waterloo) !!

I can only judge the clubs I have been to as I've never been to Revolution I can neither agree or Disagree.

So... If music and clientelle are not to be taken into account a few clubs come to mind.

I will go with the obvious choice first and say the Guvernment... Huge capacity, great sound and lights... And don't forget the fact that prices for special events are still regular price (free for me! )

Other than that and since we are not basing on crowd or music I'd have to say Money and Fluid as clubs with really nice decor and design.

I also do like Aria in Montreal. Great club with a friendly atmosphere, good lighting, lots of space.

Unfortunetly judging the best club in Canada is purely based on your own experiances. Also Crowd and music make a huge difference with one's opinion. For instance despite System being pretty much a hole (i know its been improved as of late) I would still much rather go there than deal with the bullshit at a club like Money..

Ive never been to revolution, but the fact that there is no smoking on the dancefloor makes me want to go. I remember last year at State01, the next morning when I sobered up, I looked at my hands and arms and there were cigarette burns everywhere. Also, Im tall, and people that smoke always blow the smoke up high so that they dont get it in eachothers faces, but dont realize that It goes in my face.

Of the clubs I have been to, I would also have to say Guvernment/Koolhaus is the best. They have amazing sound, and the lazer that the have in Guv drives me. It doesnt matter to me what the drinks cost, cause I dont drink when I go clubbing, so i dont know how much it is.

Like Time2Burn said, the price to get in is always decent, especially considering the names they have coming in on a regular basis. Also, they put a lot of money into keeping the place current (ie. their new renovations).

I'd have to say that although Guv has an amazing system, the progressive music and the rude people make it a turn off for me, and I'll only go there if someone really interesting is spinning. But true, that laser, and the sound, and the other lights, just make me insane when I am there.

I'd vote for Fly as the best club in Toronto, if you're basing it solely on the specs of the place. It's a gay club, but often frequented by straight people like myself and my boyfriend because the music is fun, the lighting and sound are fucking incredible, it's relatively small and there are so many different areas of the club. The layout is impressive. It looks like a house from the street! Every night there is an adventure - we all find each other at the end, and exchange tales of what we saw and who we met. I love it....the sound and the lighting are comparable to guvernment, I'd say, because it's just as intense, but in a much smaller club.

System is just sketchy, although the VIP is cozy. I have yet to check out Element and MadBar.

Two of my best party experiences happened at The Docks......Wintergalctic 2001, and Bittersweet 2002. Dj Tiesto played one of the best sets ive heard!!!!! Very good laser system, and loud sound at the main stage!! My favorite laser is the one that is about 6 ft. up off the ground and goes from one end to the other!!!
I'll have to agree with Durafei that Rev is one of the best clubs in Canada, especially the purple room with issac s. and mattlok spinnin
wicked tunes. Gotta love the smoke free dance floors as well!!!

Based on the club only, and from what I've been too.

Guvernment... Best sound/lighting/setup and bang for the buck....

Although i've never been... i know

SONA (in montreal)

Posted by Mandrick_v on Jun-05-2002 17:00:

#1. GUV/KOOLHAUS - u know y....
#2. Metropolis - couse of tons of fresh air, lots of breathing space and tons of sitting space and the sound is set up nicely.
#3. Palazzo - amazing club (Ginos fucked it up completely)
#4. Tonic - for it's sound system and nice lightning
#5. Whiskey seigon - for the vibe in the prog house room and it's lazer.

Those are mine TOP 5, well the leader is GUV for sure, wanna go to VIVA and Rev (waterloo). Maybe my opinion will change after.

Posted by itikia on Jun-05-2002 17:49:

Well Guv for me is number one simply because of its size and multiple rooms. But in terms of the sheer quality of the lighting and sound i would have to say VIVA in Markham. Its unreal, the light show will blow you away... I haven't been to any other clubs in Canada though..

Here take a look at VIVA:

Oh shit...thats pretty nice!!

I think I'll check it out sometime.

nothing and I mean nothing compares to Guv if you only take it as a club, THE END period.

Actually that pic doesn't do justice to VIVA, it MUCH better in real life. The light show is much better than at the guv. The laser is the same, only in VIVA they have mirrors which reflect it to multiple angles, its just crazy to watch. But if you decide to check it out get ready to see ONLY asians. So if u have a problem with that, don't go. Otherwise its a good club.

I noticed you didnt post this in the 'canada' section cause you know you would get flamed by the montrealers... Has anyone here actually been to a club outside toronto before you judge best club in canada? Rename the post to best club in Toronto area cause thats all thats here.

Posted by fastmp3 on Jun-10-2002 04:12:

Aria!!!

Posted by dieTcocaiNe on Jun-10-2002 16:21:

.

I knew Aria had to be said here and it deserves to be. But still its second on my list.

Posted by mute79 on Jun-10-2002 16:44:

whoever said docks is the best club in canada should be shot, im sorry!

i guess i'd go with guv, whether u like or not, its still the best entertainment complex in canada... kool haus is just too good!

Posted by Biggy on Jun-10-2002 17:38:

Like you said TranceGeek, Guv is more a entertainment complex but for me it's not really a true underground club. I have been to Guv many times and I know what I am talking about. Also the place is too big that you loose some underground ambiance you need. And the venue?? IT's just a normal hangar, nothing really cool !

Posted by mute79 on Jun-10-2002 18:48:

i still consider guv a club though... i just think of it as more of an ent. complex since it's got so many rooms and so many different things go on there at the same time...

Posted by itikia on Jun-10-2002 19:26:

Well Biggy, since you put it that way about Guv; Viva would definitely the best underground club here in Toronto, no doubt.

However, I would love to check out Aria and then I would be in a position to compare both Viva and Aria.

Posted by discojoe on Jun-10-2002 20:49:

Biggy that first pic is sick

Posted by bluE_Neon on Jun-11-2002 20:42:

i gotta say Guv/Kool Haus...the light show @ Victoria Day in Kool Haus was just fucken amazing! i felt that the light show was just pure class..GUV has definately the best sound system i ever heard, no competition here System has a good one, CZ too...Palazzo however is a classy club i agree lol
