How do you do this in Fruity?
This has always bothered me because I don't think theres a way to do it.
In Reason theres an insert bars between locators option.
You pick the bars and it will take everything and stretch it.
In FL you can highlight the blocks in the sequencer and drag them to do this. But with the automations you can only cut them, than drag them out.
Because you wind up with duplicate automations in FL when you automate a dup it automatically automates the original.
I guess my question is more for the automations. Is there a way to avoid this? Otherwise you literally have to manually go in and stretch each automation which is really annoying.
Thanks!

Highlight the automations, scroll over the end of one and you will see the mouse icon turn into the elongation symbol, pull to desired length and enjoy.

Yeh thats to stretch them all at once.
Say for example I have 5 automations from bar 1-100.
And I want to add 8 bars between bars 50-58.
Is there a way to highlight bars 50-58 and stretch the automations somewhere in the middle of the bars?
Because if I'm working on a track and have automations drawn in, than want to add 8 bars somewhere, it throws off all the previously drawn in automations.
Like saying this is an automation: /\/\/\/\/\
And its 5 bars with each /\ being a 1 bar automation.
But now I want to add a bar after bar 2 to give me 6 bars that look like this /\/\_/\/\/\
with _ being the new automation area added.
One you slice you can no longer automate the second half without affecting the first! Hope I'm not driving people crazy but its real basic and after you have 20 automations drawn in its hell doing this manually.

Guessing this can't be done.
Reason does it in 2 steps, I'm gonna go post it as a recommendation on FLs forums. See what they say there.

Holy shit. A cartoon character? Are they trying to attract 5 year olds or music developers?
I'm going to find out for sure why such a simple important feature doesn't exist.

Under the automation clip properties click "Make Unique".
Posted by Watts on Nov-13-2008 03:05:
Just to follow up: you need to open up the link controller window and add the new link.
If you do not do this then the automation clip is assigned to nothing. I can make some pictures if needed.

Hmm, I hope this actually works because that would be awesome.
I'm gonna give it a shot and will post bask asap. Thanks!

Ok I got the "make unique" thing, thats actually exactly what I was looking for so thanks a lot, really.
But the link controller thing is confusing. WIll that link the 2 sliced automations back together? Because I sliced an automation, than linked it, but theres something weird going on with the way they linked. Like I can't find the middle lol.
Its too hard to explain, but thanks this is gonna save me so much time now automating.

Robby,
you can also drag back part of the automation in FL Studio, if you placed it below the blocks section in the playlist.
See below for an example:

Btw, I hope this was what you were asking

I think what your saying is if you mark a point on the automation you can drag it back or forth.
What I was more talking about is a situation (that happens a lot for me) where I have say 20 automations listed and I want to add 9 blank bars somewhere in the middle of the track and stretch the automations from that mid point.
Before I'd have to strech each automation, than redraw every single point in as it was before and after the new blank bars.
Someone in here told me about the "make unique" option which allows me to slice them now and work which cloned automations.
But the ultimate goal was the closest thing to Reasons "insert between locators" option. Where you essentially mark any 2 point in a track, and everything gets move from point 1 to point 2 leaving everything between 1 & 2 blank for a new section of a track, longer break, new automations etc.
Even with the make unique option, and everything in here, theres still a requirement that you must individually do these things to each automation. I can now save the time of redrawing, but I still have check off each automation as unique, than deal with twice the amount of clones and clutter.
For anyone who knows this feature in Reason I won't have to explain, but I'm going to sit down later tonight and do pictures so people know exactly what I'm trying to do, and why I waste so much time doing something that should take 2 seconds.
Thanks so far everyone though, much appreciated.
