fun night! so many familiar faces !

Lee osborne stole the show for me (well ym vs roaches might have, but i left after paco)

I was a bit disapointed by Paco overall. he was great in his last 20-30 mins, i wish he had played like that for 2 hours..

Good job on the event guys

It took me almost 2 hourst to get to Toronto last night!
The weather was horrible, but I was on a mission....to see some amazing ppl and support what means so much a lot of us and especially you David!!!-again thank you so much for what you have done...That shirt made my jaw drop!!!! ahhh you kill me!

I'll start off with Lee motherfcukin Osborne!!!! Happy Birthday to one of my favourite ppl and my fav. local!! This guy is incredible!!! Perfect way to start the night!!!

I haven't heard Val play in forever, and really enjoyed his set. Was a perfect way to open up for Paco!!

PACO OSUNA!!! fakkkkkkkk....loved, loved, loved the whole set. He played about 8 or 9 of his tracks last night, and his remix of Green Velvet's Flash !!! Aboslutely amazing. So talented, with so much passion and just a very special person overall!

OMG YM, Carlo Lio, Nathan Barato----you were the icing on the cake!!! I couldn't have asked for anything better!

Overall this was a perfect night out.
Friends 10/10
Vibe 10/10
Music 10/10

It was definitely worth the drive...Last night was spectacular and I wouldn't change a minute of it!!!

k better review now...

arrived at 730 to help set things up still hung from the night before but found myself quite motivated. 9pm hit so fast and zeina was up. some good groovy tunes and by 945 there were a good amount of people. cam on next and stepped it up a notch and managed to squeeze a couple drums in . by the time lee got on footy was just over half full i think. def amazing tunage coming from him. val was up next and the room was bumping. around 1250 people were starting to chant paco and he soon took the decks. first time hearing him live so i dont have much to compare to but enjoyed his set. started well then i lost him for a bit but his last bit was pretty relentless. YM vs Roaches- i think many were pumped for this and it def showed. crowd was eating up the tunes. "carlo fuckiingg liooooo" lol kept the party going til 530. 10 hrs at footy. crazy.

It may not sound like much since this is only my 3rd time to Footwork - but this rates my favourite night

The music was excellent from start to finish. YM/Roaches stole the night, but that wasn't much of a surprise. I thought Paco was great as well. I will definitely go see him when he comes through again. All the other djs brought great sets as too. Is anyone else stoked that Cam Maxwell has a CZ residency now? It was a shame that they were no longer serving snocones by the time I arrived.

P.S. - The sound at Footy is incredible. Reminded me so much of The Drink. Killer bass!

Enjoy the vids

So...

I was worried.

won't lie.

Had a HUGEEEEE overhead this year, with Paco and promotion costs, and additions of some props, and decor to make the event bigger and better... as, Dance 2 Da Beat, doesn't want to be JUST a cancer benefit.. but a SICK ASS WICKED party.

MASSIVE overhead, a CRAZY snowstorm that took about 100 people from the door....

but the people that MAKE this EVENT what it is... STILL pulled through

I can't tell you how worried I was, however, you the people came through again and made this Dance 2 Da Beat successful.

We're going to be donating just a little over 2000, (2340) to the hospital.

This ADDS to the total of total D2DB events...

We're going to keep going, your next event should be late spring next year.

We put in 3 this year, did a boat, moved it into more then one event a year.

Thanks to JON-JON and the Footwork crew for dealing with my spazziness over the few days leading up to the event

thanks to nana for always being my ear, i love you bro... hope i didn't do too much hoopla.

thanks to all the ym ladies who donated their time in helping decorate and helping selling cds, was appreciated greatly.

Rachel, Katy, Hooper, Adam for coming through and REALLY pushing hard on the final day... love you all

Dance 2 Da Beat has become as much to Milena as it does me, she does so much work for it... and really never gets the credit, it's become a TEAM MILENACE event... Baby, I can't thank you enough for all your work, I love you.. With each day that passes, I realize more and more how I have to throw a ring on your finger sooner rather then later.

All the DJs who donated their time, to Justin Chung and Scott Schilling.. the TALENT was sooo impressive this year, I didn't hear a bad set.

Thanks to Tommy for gathering that picture montage that was being displayed over the big screen. What a trip down memory road that was. Won't lie, even shed a tear when the picture of my dedication set to my mom came on the screen...

Momma, if your reading (she never was a TA but FUCK anything can happen in the afterlife!) I hope I did you proud.

Kuddos to all the CD donations too.... incredible.

I'm going to give a recap of the entire event from day before to day after today while working and I'll post that tonight.

<3 you all.

Thanks for making this event worth every second i put into it, kuddos to all the picture taking, video taking... can't tell you how great it feels to see that vibe, to see that excitement rockin' the club... it's amazing to reflect, to appreciation.. to get fired up till we run it again!

What a successful event!

With each D2dabeat that passes I am blow away with how much support, respect and love people have for this event. I was selling cd's and I came upon a couple whom had this magnetic energy. They were loving life and loving the party, I was drawn to them. As I explained I was selling cd's that were donated from various DJ's, and all proceeds went to charity they had a story to share with me.....

A very good friend of theirs died at the age of twenty seven from colon cancer. At that moment I was at a loss of words, in fact it made me choke up a bit. They were there for a reason, they were there for a bigger cause. You would be surprised just how many people's lives in that room were/have or are being affected by cancer. And all those who haven't and were there..... Amazing. Thank you.

Our scene is small but with every D2dabeat event that passes, I'm reminded of just how much of a difference we can make.

Absolutely fabulous, what can I say? I love our scene and I am so proud to be a part of it - seeing everyone there for their own reasons was just amazing. Heartwarming to say the least.

So happy to see the pink lei lasted the night on loads of people!

Dave, congratulations, you pulled off a stellar night, AGAIN!

As for overheads, I think the people there last night would have been there regardless of Paco. Barato should be our guest headliner, I know I would happily pay $25 for him

Dance to da beat is now a staple, long may it continue

Next? lol

I had such a great time on Sat....

I got there around 9:30 and not only was there already a great crowd forming, but there was already a wicked energy in the place. People were just happy and excited for the evening and you could just tell...

If I had to sum the night up in one way, that would be it, the awesome energy that this event brought out in people.

Everyone was there, everyone was smiling, everyone was happy. I think people really appreciate the fact that they are apart of something bigger at these events and that really shows.

All the DJ's played wicked sets! I had to leave around 2am since my other half was home ill, so unfortunately I missed YM vs Roaches which was disappointing but heard they rocked it.

Big THANK YOU to Dave for letting me be apart of this event. I saw some of the hard work this guy puts into these events leading up to the date and I was impressed. The guy has passion and it shows...

Thanks Dave, we're lucky to have you in our scene.

Mils has had a flyer attached to her for weeks promoting it. I actually joked with her and told her she mine as well get a tatoo, it would last longer! haha

Red face

-=- Dance 2 Da Beat Weekend -=-

In the past, I have heavily believed in promoting D2DB the night before. Going out to a few clubs, passing the flyers out, getting some last minute people to show up. I asked YM ladies and Lyle to spread the word as I wanted a nice relaxing night home with Mils.

So, as the g33ks that we are, (proud ones at that) me and Millers chilled on the couch and caught up on some weekly shows. Once a week, we watch usually in the same pattern of Movie Network (On Demand)

*Californiacation

*Entourage

*Life and Times of Tim (Although Mils usually "showers" or "cleans" dishes when it's on, I'm pretty sure she doesn't like it)

*Dexter

It was suppose to be just a total chill out before a VERY hectic day. However, it wasn't. If anyone watches Dexter, the last episode was something that hit so close to home, WAY to close.. and no, I never poisoned anyone's key lime pie. On the eve of the fifth installment of an event I devoted to my mother, I relived my most painful memory about her.

In this episode, one of Dexter's friends, a lady who had seen him grow up as a child, was dying of cancer. She was in a palliative care unit, basically, the floor known (as I was told when my mom was dying) as the "death floor". That's really ummm... uplifting. The similarities were mind blowing... it started with a lost of appetite, followed by emotional outbursts, be it crying or anger... followed by a gasping of air when speaking which, is quite possibly the most hurtful sound I ever heard.

I re-lived each moment of the episode, remembering the situations coming up with my mom. I then remember my mom asking to die, asking the pain to stop...

I can remember her begging "please stop, god.... please please please" in this faint, heavy french accented painful wimper that will never leave me to this day.

The thought of it, and typing it out right now just made my eyes watery.

During the episode, the lady asked Dexter to help her stop the pain, to send her to a better place. I was literally sitting at the television, tears streaming from my face... half in having relived the most painful experience of my life, the other, the coincidence of it all.

I turned to look at Milena... who, never had seen me cry in the first 9 months of this relationship, and said "Wow, that was fucked up."

Emotions got turning... really got me super hyped up for this event, it's that JOLT of energy, that JOLT of adrenaline going into the event that I needed.

After getting some reassurance from Nathan and Jon Jon through about 8-10 texts/msn convos, I went to bed early (I think like 11pm, who DOES that?) on a Friday.

To Be Continued....
