sadly this isn't an isolated incident, kidnapping and extortion is common down there. i've been extorted by both ends of the law in tijuana and have never thought of going back since. stay out of that dump and advise all your friends and family to do the same until crime and corruption is taken seriously down there. the only way they'll learn the value of our safety is if we withhold our tourism dollars from them until they do. seriously it's worth it to spend your money virtually anywhere else but there.
