Circa posts, they don't read.

Posted by chinamon on Nov-18-2008 18:08:

they are the only promoter that constantly post events in the wrong forum. i think they dont give a shit because they figure that their posts will be moved. what we should do is suspend promoters for 2 weeks from posting for their second infraction (first infraction is a warning).

no but seriously, how hard is it to include dj's in the title, in the proper room so people know wots gwanin at the club?

or maybe they do it so that you have to read the thread, not just the title?

give up already...

this has been going on since Circa opened and is unlikely to change.

If you want to go to Circa, check their website. Clearly, their promotion team is lacking or doesn't care to post/update events on TA in a timely manner.

you could say the same thing about EVERY venue in the city so im going to have to say you're wrong.
promo teams need a presence in online communities these days if they expect to get anywhere. it is much more convenient for people to go to a forum where they have a whole list of events rather than go to each venue's website.

Posted by Orko on Nov-18-2008 19:03:

^^ Agreed. And if we wanted to go to each website, then our event's listing section would be useless. Progress people, progress!

whoa...I don't disagree.

All I'm saying that if you want to keep up on Circa's events, don't rely on Circa posting/updating them here.

The history of half-assed promotion on TA stretches back for some time and I doubt that's going to change.

most of the half-assed promo that ive seen here are by people posting events when they do not directly work for the venue so they dont know anything about it. they simply make an event thread with the performer and venue in the title just to look cool like "hey look at me! i know about this before anybody else!" with no flyer or any other info.

There is a difference between sharing information (good news) and promotion.

if you havent noticed, there is a rule on TA that says only one event posting allowed per event. if a random person comes along and uses that one post then it prevents the promoter from posting theirs.

rules aren't rules unless it gets enforced

like how it was considered tacky for promoters or DJs playing at that event to make a roll call for that event, but no one really cares anymore

maybe a new rule should be not to post an event unless you have a proper flyer or equivalent info for it. i hate when people post an event and dont put anything in the body of the message.

Then promoters should be faster.
First come first serve.

I would rather know about a party sooner than later.

If the promoter wants the flyers and info added they can still post it in the thread... or go cry to Swamper and he will fix it.

Plus there are a lot of events that promoters never add to the event thread.... or wait till like a week before (which for some people that may not be enough notice). I would rather know 50% of the information from a non promoter, than know 0% from a promoter who fails at promoting.

you may think that posting events way ahead of time is good but it doesnt always work out that way. many times people find out an event two months ahead of time and think its a great event. then three weeks before that event they see something new and end up going to the new event because the first event was "old news". you would be surprised at how many people think that way.

Funny that you mentioned this since I had planned on posting the event for Nick Warren @ Circa but since I am not a promoter nor even remotely affiliated with Circa I held off. Looks like they still haven't put up anything in the Events section.
