Nagra3 is a big change which will take some time for the coders to resolve. I am currenlty running an Nfusion reciever which has fixed a lot of BEV channels due to the Nagra3 switch over but I am still missing all of the PPV's/Porn & some other channels.

I have another dish pointed to 110/119 Charlie(DishNET) which is 100% functional but the word around town is that they are switching to nagra3 shortly.

Looks like we are in for a bit of downtime but I am very impressed with the Nfusion coders. They are well on top of this and should have everything sorted out shortly. The other thing that I love about the Nfusion when everything is working properly is that it never goes down. I have friends with Viewsats, Sonicviews, Captive Works etc who are always talking about ECM hits and downtime requiring new bins to fix. I just smile at them and say "IKS baby!"

SV 8000HD and VS Extreme, both pointed at B*V, both down

Watching Charlie and GC currently on VS Ultra and Fortec LU cloned to a pansat 2500.

Putting off my purchase of the SV 8000HD until I hear more news about Nagra-3

i gave my vs pro to a friend so im only using my vs ultra and sv-8000 now.

bev is toast. charlie is still up.
here is the word... n3 has been dumped but how far along they are nobody knows.
as for the charlie n3 swap, apparently they are having issues with the dishplayer 7000/7100 and those subscribers will have to be switched to a new IRD which dish says will delay the swap. the projected date for n3 on charlie is around june 2009.

i have a viewsat ultra 2000 pointed at nimiq 91, so are you guys saying my best bet would be to point it in the direction of 119? What general direction would that be? Thanks alot guys

http://www.dishpointer.com/

If you have two LNB's on your BEV dish you can pick up both 110/119 with some patience.

I used to get about 6 a couple of months ago, so I moved my UFO-like antenna from the site of my house to the top of it on a tripod, and 20ft mast. I also added an Antennas Direct DB-8 to boost the UHF signals.

I had to double-up high-end antennas because Aurora is a 220km drive to Buffalo, and I'm at the most extreme edge. People in Toronto are lucky.

For anyone interested HERE is a list of all digital and HD channels you can pick up in the Toronto area, for FREE and completely legally.

yeah people in toronto are very lucky.
my friend's cousin uses a piece of coaxial rg6 terminated with a penny and works great.

CN Tower and the BMO tower sends out all of TO's channels. If one is close to the CN Tower, you can undo a coat hanger and wire each end.

FTA of course is better for the selection of channels, so I am not putting that down, but OTA is a great backup solution while waiting for an FTA fix, or to replace basic package cable-TV or Bev subscribers.

i know OTA is a great backup but im just too lazy to run another line in to my house and install an antenna. i already have cable as a backup so thats good enough for me. nothing beats satellite tv though.

You think it would be safe for me then to get the sv8000? I am just looking to get charlie. Currently running vs ultra.

I want to get the sv8000 but dont want it to go down in a month with nagra3. If for sure it will be next year I dont mind picking it up. Also if it does go down, do you think we will need new hardware or it will just be a new bin that will work on current hardware?

first off, you will need an 8psk module to do charlie high definition.

as for n3 causing charlie to go down, they may say june but it could happen in march... or september... we really dont know so it is up to you if you want to spend the ~$400 on the hardware. we dont know if n3 will work with current hardware because we dont have an n3 fix to try it with. if it works then great! if it doesnt then we will all have to buy new hardware. my guess is current hardware will work since all new receivers seem to have enough memory space.
