Justice get caught faking it

First Hook, and now this!

http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item...heir-live-sets/

The article also suggests that Daft Punk don't put much "live" into their "Alive". Thoughts?

Someone posted this in the Production forum. Fakers.

lol, they're playing in chicago for NYE. wankers

Posted by Clovis on Nov-20-2008 01:58:

Justice sucked before this.

If you're gonna fake, get a pyramid like Daft Punk. Nothing has to be plugged in in there, except the neon suits.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Nov-20-2008 02:12:

not necessarily conclusive, but here's a pic of dave dresden in chicago last week

Posted by Ted Promo on Nov-20-2008 02:17:

Such reputable and iconic artists. I don't know where to go from here.

Posted by flavdave on Nov-20-2008 02:39:

Does it really matter though? I bet people go to their shows and have a lot of fun.

Posted by flavdave on Nov-20-2008 02:55:

Also I thought it was a pretty publicized fact that Gaspard can't DJ for shit and never really did anything up there anyway. Xavier is the main button pusher.

Posted by Paradox Lost on Nov-20-2008 02:57:

Nah, I think it was an honest technical error that they just needed to troubleshoot:

Posted by wotyzoid on Nov-20-2008 03:33:

I'm pretty sure Daft didn't fake their shows because I heard their Coachella set before I went to see them and there were subtle differences on the timing that each track came in, sometimes they skipped a couple of bars and stuff like that. It sounded like genuine ableton sampling madness.

edit: The Bays are indeed fucking brilliant.

Posted by LoveHate on Nov-20-2008 03:39:

lol busted

and seems like daft boy is in denial, lol jokes.

i love how all of these shit djs are trying to bring their shows to life now. dave dresden

3:13 of that bays clip is fucking immense. the drum groove is awesome as fuck

Posted by SMC on Nov-20-2008 04:08:

What a bunch of clowns. I'm so tired of all these Justice, Daft Punk etc. Their music is absolute shit to begin with and on top of that they pretend to be performing it, which isn't really a surprise.

Posted by Simcut on Nov-20-2008 08:07:

Justice has been served, fnar fnar.

Posted by chesco on Nov-20-2008 08:59:

the bays are indeed awesome, one of the most impressive acts i've seen over the years. Managed to catch them at the wee chill festival in glasgow a couple of years back and they were top notch..

As for the justice thing, seems pretty lazy to forget to plug in your equipment.

Posted by daphunky1 on Nov-20-2008 09:05:

I'm not surprised.
I've really wondered what all the "live edm acts" are really doing. They hafta make it look like they're doing something so they can be looked at as a star or performer, I guess.

Posted by Imagin on Nov-20-2008 09:47:

It was made public knowledge that the "Alive" concerts were prerecorded with Daft Punk doing some on the fly remixing of the tracks. Its not really a big deal to me simply because it enables a DJ to remix and make more things happen. Just would be awkward if the crowd was out of your mix then your up shits creek.

It's pretty much impossible to do this kind of music live anyways.

When the original recordings may have up to 80 tracks running in the sequencer.

I've often thought myself how I would approach doing a live set. I think the compromise would be using ableton live in session mode to trigger pre-defined loops (whilst giving flexibility to extend or shorten sections of the structure depending on audience reaction) combined with a little live keyboard playing on top.

Anything more than that would really require a full team of live performers to do each part.

Miming on a midi controller that's not even plugged in though.... oh dear...

okay..lets move on

So what? Most pornstars are faking it, but it's still nice to watch.

Not nearly as interesting to watch as the real thing, though... in both cases.

im pretty sure Mike has faked his Push live shows in the past

80 tracks is absolutely excessive. You could probably half that without any difficulty and not have a noticable effect in a live show.

Daft Punk's first album was recorded entirely on 8-track, which would make playing it live considerably more possible.
