Question So...Does anyone Eve?

Any EVE gamers on this forum?

Eve is a game? I thought it was a place bad people went after they died.

Sure do. I'm currently in Foundation in Greater Wildlands trying to sort out this God damn new buggy patch....errr sorry, "expansion".

No that's WoW.

Used to play, but honestly I quit because of the atmosphere. It felt so cold and harsh, being war decced and having your corp you just worked really hard on shattered doesn't help either. Now I think I could get over that, but even still... it's like rpgs, I just don't have time for it (not that I'm particularly busy).

Great game for if your 30 and no life though.

Yea Eve is very cold and harsh. Not many people can handle such an environment.

I do play EVE and since the certs came out I can honestly post this now. EVE is a great game and it will just keep getting better as time progresses. WOW doesnt hold a candle to EVE.

Happy to see the usual Eve suspects from TA. I even see La5er bravely post in CAOD from time to time.

The harshness of Eve is part of the appeal. No other game has such a harsh death penalty, and it makes for a more intense gaming experience. It helps when you're the one dishing out the grief.

I'm the CEO of Slacker Industries, and I find the challenge for me is making large amounts of ISK without grinding and remaining pvp relevant without sacrificing too much real life priorities. Hard to keep up with these large alliances and their time demands. Does anyone work in Europe?

Wow is a mostly no brainer very atmospheric game that is about well written quests and a fun enviroment. With some great pvp and interesting classes.

Eve is different.

Seen it and while it's worth a chuckle, it's not a good review. A 14 day trial in an NPC corp completely discounts whatever he says afterwards. The pleasures of Eve comes, much like a good wine, with age. You play Eve for PvP. Whether that be blowing up someone's shit or undercutting them on market orders or scamming them out of a mothership. BTW PVP is never mentioned perhaps ZP was trying too hard to be funny. The game's pve, while adequate, is a means to an end - money to continue pvping.

His COD4 review was spot on though.

Well lets not forget if you sign up through steam you can get a 21 day trial instead...

and besides, since when do you review a game based on a demo or a trial? They are meant for people who check to see if they're interested enough to continue further, not a fully fledged review. Suffice to say while amusing, it goes no where near a proper review let alone somewhat decent one at all.

Not entirely true. I had plenty of fun realising that destroyers can sell for 30% more at noob start locations... and all the dramas of war decs and alliance/corp politics. Let alone eve tv was just awesome to watch, it's certainly obvious that a lot goes into politics and the market.

and hey, you can play the market a bit as a noob too. Plus missions get a ton better at level 3.

Grinding for ISK (mainly mining) felt too much like a real job...

I might play again, but I just can never get into MMORPGs that much.

I really would like to like Eve though, the whole space thing is neat.

Mining....I could never do it

I mistakenly bubbled my own guys 2 hours ago. We had 3 reds jump into us. I bubbled. Then a fleet of 15 more jumped in as I hadn't heard the EO2 spike being called. We got decimated....whoops.

Lost my rigged Flycatcher and +4 implants (ouch!) but I feel worse about the other guys losing their ships. Oh well, live and learn.

By the fan-fest 08 videos it sounds like they want to combine the best aspects of current EVE tech with the best of FPS, Flight-sim, and Vehicular war-fare in the future.

Imagine walking out of your corporations office on planet A, being shot at by party B, making a bee-line to vehicle C, fighting your way through group B's firepower all the meanwhile meeting up with a few of your corp mates heading to their space-ship launch pads as well.

You hop in your spaceship, engage in a dog-fight with some foes in a planets atmosphere, warping out of the atmosphere to a station flying around another planets moon in the same solar system. Having to fight off an undock-point camp that a group of pirates are holding, then docking in the station and fighting your way to your corps office in that station.

I wanna get back into this game

Yea something like that is what would engage me, just being in your ship is not enough. It seemed like a glorified avatar.
