DSLR virgin need help
I'm looking into buying a DSLR camera sometime this winter or early 2009. I'm new, soooooooo I'm gonna need some help. I don't mind spending a bit more, as long as its a)worth it and b)will last me at least 4 years.
I heard Canons and Nikons were the best. I hate Sony BTW. I'll mostly be doing scenic, product shots, still life, landscape etc. None of that Anne Geddes baby stuff.
Also, lenses? How expensive are decent ones? High zoon/fish eye? I'm not gonna be too hardcore into it, but the options would be nice.
BTW is TA hiring n00bs lol
THX
Ye same with me i plan to buy a dslr in a month... around Christmas time... so far iam interested in Canon EOS 40D or Canon EOS 450d XSI... I was suggested to buy Canon EOS 450d xsi as is more a beginner camera and invest more into lense.... as canon eos 40d is more intermediate camera and i might not be able to use all of the futures... iam still in need of choosing the right lense.. so i would appreciate some help too
chinamon we need your advice...
the lens really depends on what you plan on shooting.
for an every day lens i would suggest something like the canon 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. the best thing would probably be to use the kit lens that comes with it and see how that works for you. a lot people that dont get hardcore in to photography find that lens to be fine.
as for the body, start with an entry level like the canon rebel series and see how far that takes you. if you do feel the need to upgrade after a while then sell it and get something better. im still shooting with my rebel xti.
do u know if they sell that lense in best buy or future shop..????

Take your time and have a look at the reviews on dpreview.com ... You can review the forums where people discuss on specific issues... Spend your money once, it is waste of money to sell your camera back...
Lens, buy something like 24-70... though I don't even have a digital camera as I am still analog photographer...

buy the canon-XSI body and add on an 18-200 lens..
you'll be set for a few years..
oh and don't loose it in a club!
oh no plans to take it to the club... its just for personal interest...

get the olympus evolt 510 with the two lens kit. you can get for around $500 for body and lens (recently came out with 520, so that dropped price a bit). great beginner camera
personally, i wouldnt buy anything made my olympus when it comes to photography. i'd rather get a sony/pentax over olympus.

| Originally posted by kamil No it doesnt. The Nikon D90 does HD Video @ 720p. The only Canon to shoot video is the 5D Mark II, and it shoots at FULL HD, 1080p, significantly higher quality than 720p. I'd recommend the 50D over the D90 anyway, who cares about video when it sucks (not the picture quality, but the execution of recording video; no auto-focus!?) |
