my computer seems to be infected with some sort of spyware. if i do a google search and click on a link, a new window will open and direct me to a suspicious looking URL rather than the actual site i'm trying to visit. this happens both in IE and Firefox.
my spyware removal programs won't let me update before i run a scan, and anytime i try to open a URL for a spyware removal program, the page cannot be found.
what do i do?
and for the record i've already stopped browsing porn sites.
Google Chrome?
browse more porn sites.
go to your friends place with a usb drive or a cd rom, download some shits anti virus shit and bammmm...
...
Go to LavaSoft's site ( http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ ) and download the
free version of AdAware. This will cleanse your machine of spyware,
adware and other junk that may be hijacking or otherwise polluting
your system.
Also, you may want to check for the presence of a file called
hosts.txt on your system - it is a text file that can be used to
redirect domain names. It can be a culprit in situations like these,
too.

Check \windows\hosts in Notepad, it may redirect the search engines to
a specific IP. Just delete the offending lines, save and reboot. It
does not have a .txt extension.

what spyware programs are you using?

and also
sounds like someone installed a web / internal proxy on you. might want to check that.
restore you r windows to a previous restore point, problem solved.
so far i've used AVG Free, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, and Spyware Terminator. none of them have fixed the problem.
for whatever reason i can't seem to access any of their servers, which means that i can't update the software. i don't know if that might have something to do with how effective they are when i run the scan.

Sounds like you need a lottery ball.
might want to give us a hijackthis log. post it here or pm it to me if you don't want to post it.
//edit
due to that i do not memorize the windows registry path to the internet proxy definition.

When shit like this starts happening is when I usually decide to reformat. I prefer to use spyware removal and anti-viruses as a preventive measure. Once you've got them all over your system, it's a hassle to get rid of them. With backups well organised a nice system sweep takes about two hours once every 6 months or so, brings some fresh pine scent to your operating system.
Gee when I had this problem, I was flamed to hell.
