Looks like Wetbar is still alive...

Too bad their first party looks like a copy of Opera's usual thing

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-26-2008 23:44:

Are they going to start using the venue for EDM again??

Posted by nrjizer on Nov-27-2008 00:46:

As long as they haven't fucked with the sound then I'd probably still go.

Posted by iammesol on Nov-27-2008 02:21:

No kidding Tom. I loved the set up in there! But...

This is their first party. lol

Didn't they always have shit nights like that before along with Liquified nights?

Posted by iammesol on Nov-27-2008 02:53:

Yes.

Devin, is now the time to strike? I miss that place hardcore!

Posted by Amir Abbasi on Nov-27-2008 07:11:

last time i drove by it still said wetbar...

Posted by Liquified on Nov-27-2008 14:00:

Working on a few one offs there already. Was by there a few weeks ago and the remodel looked good. From my understanding they are going to be doing a lot of Live band type stuff.

Hope dwells within me. \o/

Yeah me too, through my years and years of clubbing I've just gotten so sick of Opera ya know? Fuck the establishment!

We still have a lot booked at Opera in 2009. Our jan - jun schedule at opera is going to be out of control!

Posted by enydo on Nov-28-2008 02:01:

I saw! I'm really gonna try hard and make it out for Satoshi. I was mostly just joshin with Sam.

I don't really prefer Opera, last time I was there for Howells the sound kinda sucked and it was really noticable, but if there's good music going down there, I'll try and be there.

I care more about seeing some great talent then where it's actually happening.

Yeah, as much as I can't stand the venue/staff, I can't really say I've ever had a bad time at Opera. Keep bringing in good names and I'll come.

But seriously, work on getting more stuff at wetbar.

Posted by iammesol on Nov-28-2008 03:02:

Wish I could say the same as you two. I've never enjoyed a show there sans the VIP Howells thing. That was mostly because there was a couch and good sound for once.

Posted by enydo on Nov-28-2008 03:05:

I wish you could say the same too, honestly.

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-28-2008 04:07:

I haven't been to Opera that much though, so meh.

Posted by Ted Promo on Nov-28-2008 18:03:

I've been to Opera once. It sucked. I've been to 1150 about seven or eight times, it was alright.

Posted by enydo on Nov-28-2008 18:08:

Opera may be shit, but I'd rather support the scene in Atlanta then whine about how sucky the place is.

Besides, drink enough and do enough substances and it doesn't matter where you are. You could be rockin out at a rave in a McDonald's Playplace.

Posted by iammesol on Nov-28-2008 19:02:

As positive as that statement is, I'm not going to spend lots of money to not have a good time. That negates the point of a party.

Posted by enydo on Nov-28-2008 19:35:

Whatever, not worth arguing.

I'm sure in February me and my hip-flask will be at Opera whenever someone worth there salt comes through.

I've had a few spectacular nights at Opera and a few miserable nights at Opera. Most nights are so so.

Sometimes the place is so packed or the staff are such assholes or the tunes just aren't getting the respect they deserve from the sound system or sometimes the crowd is full of douchebags who like to spill beer on me, knock my beer out of my hand and put their cigarettes out on me.

But sometimes the crowd is full of actual fans and you can actually move around and keep a beer in your hand without getting 20 cigarette burns, all the while listening to some amazing music.

I've never had a bad night at WETbar though, I will admit that much. Place always has a great crowd and a great sound system.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Nov-28-2008 22:29:

I enjoyed WETbar up until deadmau5, which was an unfortunate unforgivable offense.

But I honestly can't recall an experience at Opera that left me satisfied. I've enjoyed it to an extent, but the aforementioned staff/crowd/concept find a way to irritate me every time.

Posted by Amir Abbasi on Nov-28-2008 23:30:

I think to work at opera they have a training day on how to be assholes and before each night they have a meeting with all the staff in the main room just to make sure everyone knows before the night starts just how to be an ass..but I could go on for days about that club and how horrible it is to play there as a dj and I can't imagine they treat these big names any better either...

It's pretty pathetic that even the people who play there realize this.
