Is Facebook on crack?

So two days ago my account was disabled because I posted the same message about my HD video on three trance groups within a 10 minute time span. They deemed that as spamming. Now I'm trying to get it re-activated but no one at FB has returned any emails.

Now get this. My son sent out 2 messages from his accountlast night. We estimate about 7-8 minutes between each one. When he tried to reply to another message he'd got about 3 minutes after that, FB locked out is ability to send messages saying that he'd exceeded the maximum amount of msgs in a given time. Like what the fuck! How the hell did that violate any rules?

Anyone else have similar problems? Also, does anyone know if I can ever re-activate my account?

a buddy of mine uploaded a set to his facebook group and they booted him yesterday for some reason...he's been bookted 3 times now for things that dont make sense ???

I'm just wonder what is need to get reinstated. I don't want to loose everything like ppl on friends list, all comments and photos, etc and start again under a different name.

First Guv, now this.

I think it's time to give up the video's man.

It's spam-prevention taken to the extreme.

A few months back I was msg-chatting with someone back and forth, and logged into my account the next day to find a spam warning.

The set that was uploaded was probably taken down to prevent any accusations from record labels of copyright infringement. Covering their ass in other words, just in case. I won't hold that against them. You want to distribute your set, and want to use FB to do it, the best way would be to have a notification for people to ask you for it, or a link to the set on another site.

Whatevs, facebook backlash is (hopefully) only a year away anyway.

idiots
seriously!

hehe on a lighter note a lady who owns a tanning salon I used to go to, sells sex toys on a side, and I believe she posted references and/or pics of those on her FB - they booted her like 3 times

They have super controls.

Maybe they're trying to exercise some type of bandwidth throttling. I'll bet they didn't figure FB would start to become a runaway train and they need to slow it down by forcing ppl to cut back on frequency of use.

i got a 24h warning, because i had recieved too many emails for something i was selling (and responded to them) ... like wtf.

The results when one entity controls too much power.

I've had friends get banned for "spam".. they lost everything and had to re-register with a different name.

It's too extreme if u ask me. At least give a decent timely warning.

It is because they are in fact getting spammed to hell. They just won a $700-$800 million dollar lawsuit against a spammer. This is what happens when you open up your platform so much, they are just experiencing growing pains. Hopefully Microsoft will do some good through their partnership and help them refine their spam filters.

quit your spamming?

I was just joking

I sent out a note to my fan page and the same one to my group the other day and it came back saying essentially "Quit it or your account will be banned for spamming"

Needless to say, I didn't really do anything on FB for the next couple days to make sure I didn't get blocked. Seemed a bit extreme though, and I think they need more of an intelligent system put in place.

Facebook is having a lot of problems though on the admin/corporate side. Will be interesting to see how long they will last, or what kinds of changes will be occuring over the next fiscal year or so.

Oh man, imagine the social turmoil if FB closed? So many people would be walking around like zombies, not knowing what to do with themselves.

If that were to happen, would everyone go back to MySpace or would something new need to be created?

Interesting indeed!

Most people love 'free' sites until restraints are enforced that prevent them from taking further advantage of the obvious perks. They give you an inch, so don't take a mile and then whine about it. I'm not singling you out - just saying that a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else with how much spam they pump through fb.

I figure that after they get a bunch of messages reported as spam from a particular user that they flag that user as potentially having commercial motives -- and then anything after that they figure is not worth their time to bother with and then just lock/block the account. You have to remember it eats up staff time to deal with complaints and it's not worth the cost involved to get back to you since they just assume you'll sign back up again or give up.

However, I bet if you had bought some Facebook ad space that your account wouldn't have been blocked - or at least - not as easily.
