Grammy's, just like most of the other awards, aren't based who has the best (even though it should be). It's just a political as everything else. It's all one big popularity contest.

JXL is a really talented producer, even if his last album was shit. A lot of his other productions have been just fantastic.

Congrats Joel. I don't know if I have ever seen somebody move through the dance world so quickly.

Weird Al Yankovic once won a grammy. Yawn.

Dear god. They lose credibility there.

But I forgot to mention...

Congrats to Deadmau5! That's amazing! Keep up the good work!

if you mean most underrated as in big bag of cheese, then yes

edit: if i'm forced to hear this tune, i'd rather listen to robbie rivera remix which is slightly better

some nice contenders in the mix...

joel worked wonders to the longest road, very good remix
closer (stonebridge) is a pretty good remix...but i've always hated the chorus in that song.
electric feel - i think i like the original more
4 minutes - the original is AWWWWFUL - junkie xl did a good job here, and the bob sinclar remix is decent too
just fine - the moto blanco remix is probably the least 'remixed' of the lot, but puts on a nice commercial house vibe circa '00

i'd say in terms of quality of remix, the winner should be either

longest road or
4 minutes

Congrats to the mau5! I still am liking his remix of The Longest Road. I hope he wins but odds are Madonna will take it.

exactly why

I'd be more impressed if he got nominated for an original creation of his own...

I like remixes...don't get me wrong...

But to win a major award for a modified copy of someone else's creation???

It's a dumb category for the Grammy's...

Posted by MarkT on Dec-04-2008 23:50:

clearly not one of the more prestigious grammies...but why is it dumb? often a remix is better known than the original track and some mixes are far more interesting.

it's not like everyone involved in an original song isn't borrowing from others or just one piece of a collaborative effort.

pop artists sing what other people wrote, in most cases.

producers are often taking the music someone else composed, the lyrics someone else wrote, the vocals from the artist, etc. and working with it to create a finished product.

a remixer in EDM isn't much different, no?

anyway...congrats to Joel. talk about becoming 'high profile' in a hurry...

Yes I suppose you have a point there...
