It's got nothing to do with them being mainstream and everything to do with them being shit. I thought TA would be one place I could go where people would have the taste not to give a shit about them. Apparently not.

A little while ago i just came from a club that played this kind of shit, neo-indie and alt-dance whatever, that MGMT- "kids" tune was played and i went to the Dj asking him if he had MGMT- "Electric Feel" and he said yes and he played it lol. Funny thing is that i learned about MGMT from this thread yesterday lol I like "electric feel" because it has a "Daft Punkish" vibe to it.

As for the rest tunes most of them were horrible lol. I like the first album-Silent Alarm by Bloc Party although its not alt-dance or wahetever (those particulal tunes that you posted could be categorized in this way but its only about those tunes) its just your normal modern alt-rock albeit with a heavy 80s post-punk/new-wave influence, a style which is somehow fashionable again with the Killers, Bloc Party, Interpol and stuff
