Trouble with Motu Ultralite
yo just bought this thing.. installed the drivers etc.. but in ableton when i select Motu ASIO i get an error saying unknown error in MOTU ASIO driver. #25
also when i try to open the cuemix fx it says The device is on a bus that cannot support this transfer rate
anyone know how to solve this issue?
maybe the internal sample rate is different from what ableton is playing back at?
re install drivers.
what os are u running with what driver issued for that system?
good luck, dont worry you will get it to work just keep digging at the prob.
i had an issue where the ultralite would have a spaz whilst in ableton with a digital craklin noise for a brief time.
after doing things i figured out that i had installed a wirless card in my desktop about couple months prior. i decided to disable the internet when producing and the prob went away.
comps are funny things!
plus i have the original ultralite, not thw mk3 with on board dsp!

Is the ultralite the new mrk3?
try setting your live preferences up as the following,,
driver type: ASIO
audio device: MOTU Audio Asio
channel configuration: input & outputs set to 11 & 12
your master channel has to be set to channels 11/12 on a pc! to send the audio output to the monitors.
no its the original ultralite
Thats fine then,, try what I suggested as the outputs in live must be set to output via 11/12 not 1/2 on the ultralite.
when i click on MOTU Audio ASIO i get that error "An unknown error occurred in the MOTO ASIO driver.#25"
when i click ok it just reverts it to no device
Have you installed the latest drivers from motu? when you boot your pc you must also fire up the ultralite at the same time for the interface to be recognized.
when you have the ul switched on does the led read meter 44? ie the selected sample rate.
yes ive downloaded the latest drivers from the motu website and the latest firmware..
i tried ur turning it on together still isnt working.
yes the sample rate is set to 44
Ok,, is live your only audio app? do you have reason for example? the old problem with firewire audio interfaces on a pc in the past were that you needed a ti(texas instruments) firewire port to avoid clicks and pops etc.
In your live audio preferences:
click on hardware set'up,, the motu audio console general tab will pop up.
sample rate: 44100
clock source: internal
I have the sample buffer set to 128
enable multi channel wave synchronization(recommended) box checked.
driver 3.6.7.4
ultralite tab: main outs & phones main outs 1-2
firmware 1.15, hardware 1.01
im using a texas instruments firewire card
the thing is im not getting any sound out of it even if play windows media player.
i changed the settings as u said and its still does nothing
strange! try media player with a pair of headphones plugged in,, what is your set'up? I go out via the main outs 1 - 2 on the rear of the ul > to a mackie big knob and out > monitors.
The only problem I ever had with the interface was the setting the out's in live to channels 11/12 to get sound.
Its prob something very simple,, but I would suggest contacting motu support and see what they suggest.
yeh ive tried with headfones no luck.. i got monitors plugged into the main outs.
i think thats my only hope for now lol im gonna test it on my mates computer tomorrow
thanks for ur help
are you using a 4pin firewire or 6pin? 4pin requires the AC adapter, 6 pin does not
Mine will not even power up if i dont have the mains adapter plugged and im using a 4 pin lead, 6 pin however is fine either way
Definitely sounds like a driver problem to me. If your on XP maybe you could roll back to before you installed the drivers, then maybe get the latest drivers of the MOTU site and try installing it again?
i remember the 1st ultralite i had i had to disable the onboard soundcard on my mobo( in my bios)
^^^
everytime i build a pc i always disable the on-board sound, i mean its not like im ever gonna use it anyway
Hey man try this.
To get sound from your windows enviroment etc (Media Player)
When motu is on, check that it displays the drivers etc in System Properties/ Hardware Tab/ Device Manager. Hopefully it is enabled.
Now, goto control panel , click sound. Make these settings.
In the audio tab/ sound playback, have selected the main outs selected not phones like most times when you turn it on it defaults to that.
then goto motu audio setup.
here under ultralite tab have these sttings.
-Main outs Vol = Main Outs
-Phones = Main Outs
this will ensure when something played back thru windows it is sent to main out's but because you have also selected the main outs to phones thru motu auido setup you also get it to come out phones 2.
hope it help dude
this way we can nail if it's an ableton prob etc.
so if you can hear stuff in a windows enviroment you know that your card is working and maybe some conflict with the ultralite driver and ableton is the case. remeber it is likely that something is interfering!
oh and what the others said is right, disable then on board sound card thru device manager.
thanks for ur help guys but nothing seems to work lol i dont even have the onboard soundcard drivers installed..
im gonna buy a new computer sometime this week instead i had this hunk of shit for 4 - 5 years now its time to upgrade.. thanks again
i dunno but that there could lie your prob for many reason's
