First Phase of Ultra Lineup Announced! Santogold, Crystal Castles, Cut Copy, and More

Billboard unveiled this morning the very first phase of the lineup for the 2009 Ultra Music Festival Billboard unveiled this morning the very first phase of the lineup for the 2009 Ultra Music Festival which will be taking place on Friday March 27 and Saturday March 28 2009. It is time to get excited! As the festival has expanded in size, its organizers have made laudable stabs at taking the lineup into the new dance-music frontiers of the 21st century. Yes, all your favorite DJs and Producers will play, but this coming year's edition features even more innovative groups that ride the rock/electronic edge, including a few who have rarely played Miami, like...

Cut Copy and Crystal Castles! The last time Crystal Castles were here was WMC 2007, before they really blew up, and as for Cut Copy.... If they've played here at all in the last couple of years, I don't remember -- but their live show is a lot of fun, no matter how many times you've heard their indie-club hits.

Also returning to Miami, but making an Ultra debut, is Simian Mobile Disco, who totally destroyed the eyes, eardrums, and minds of the crowd who caught them on the last Saturday of WMC at Studio A this past spring.


Other artists confirmed for the lineup so far include Santogold, the Ting Tings, Bloc Party, the Presets, Busy P ... and from dance music's last golden age, Roni Size Reprazent (for the collective's first U.S. apperance in seven years), and, of course, Tiesto and Carl Cox.

Two-day passes for the festival currently cost $99.95 (plus taxes and service fees).

Ultra Music Festival would like to thank god for giving us the strength to continue and all those who have helped make UMF what it is. The fans especially.

This year will boast the strongest line up and most cutting edge production EVER assembled!!!

Does anyone know if Ultra is going to be an "Official WMC event" this year like last year? Pretty much asking if you can get in both days with the WMC badge like last year instead of buying a ticket(s) - I can't find any info about it yet so if anyone has any idea that would help -

I think their are going to be great day time artists....I've always been upset about the day time artists,there great but it's so bright out side.Anyway never seen bloc party and time & kim are frikin' recockulous......Wonder what else is in store for the weekend?

Thank you for the reply - I had looked all over that WMC and Ultra sites and couldn't find any infos, I think they just updated it this week or something unless that's the 1 page I didn't find haha.

Is the WMC badge worth to get this yr if I was planning on going to Ultra also...?

Better get it now.. its up to like $300.. which is what i paid last year for it..

I was there all week and it was semi-worth it.. I got into PVD private party at Catalina and met lots of big names which was fun.. I got into LMR, Townhouse Rooftop, Wetgrooves parties for Free.. plus discounted admission to Suite.. so the price I paid for the pass was more the I would of paid otherwise.. It just depends how you use it

What If you're not going all week?I don't think I can go until the 26th on...so would it be worth it?Also if you buy tix before march for events wouldn't it be cheaper than just walking up and using the badge?I mean how much could the badge get off?Anyway I know I'm going to make it on the yacht so I'm happy none the less!!!!!

You really have to wait for the final list of parties to be announced.. There was a couple pool parties but all the big names you have to pay for...

Award show I slept through.. Not sure if its worth it or not..

Could not agree more. I decided to put off buying my tickets untill I see phase 2, i'd rather pay the extra $30 and have the peace of mind that it will be a lineup I can enjoy.

Well it's a no brainer that the line up is going to be better with phase 2.
