Anybody see this tonight ?

Jon Stewart was spot-on in his satirical explanation of our current political crisis.

Anybody who missed the in-depth coverage (reporter in Ottawa too!), can catch it on ctv.ca as of tomorrow. I was busting a gut !

Speaking of Queen, did you know that it's a serious indictable offence to alarm the Queen? Right up there with murder and bribery of a judicial officer.

Especially the bit between india and britain. I'm surprised they didn't get into a whole joke about how pansy we must be if india could shed britain with non-violence, and we still can't.

Well, just a very different situation. India was taken over by the British, so it was more important for them to regain total control over their country. Canada was colonized and founded by the British, so that feeling of self-respect and closure was not really needed.

The skit itself was really praise for our democratic system. Although he did make fun of us, because we 'had to go to the Queen', he was still jealous that we can actually throw out our PM. Many Americans that I have talked to about this subject, are in awe that we (our MPs) have this much power, and actually exercise it.

Agreed. Although I'm not sure in this case the Canadian people are benefiting from a dissolved parliment during an economic crisis.

My political rant:
I think Harper derailed democracy by crying to the GG and getting to dissolve parliament for 6 weeks to put off the inevitable vote of no-confidence. 61% of Canadians did NOT vote for this unilateralist, arrogant, Bush wannabe.

Yep. I laughed at that part of the show though anyway. It was hilarious.
