okay now.. any real answers to how this can be fixed?

Open it up and resolder the wires. This will define to buy the 7506. Or if you want to save a little money, the v6.

those were real answers, the 700's are notorious for breaking

now that they've broken, time to get some big-boy headphones

well for now i got to use what i have so..
as for soldering them has anyone tried doing this before?

Yes. The wires are color coordinated and theres a specific place you solder the red wire. Sometimes theres an additive to make the solder appear a different color and thats where you put the red wire. Since the v700s are corded on only one side its a little more confusing, but basically if your IQ is <30 you should be ok.

Get new headphones, v700s are terrible. You can probably pick up the v6 @ guitar center for ~$50 nowadays with their 10% pricematch. Thats probably less than half of what you paid for your v700. If you wanna spend a little extra and get the 7506, you should.
