Countdown to LA begins

This is more of a message to those TAs who have my cell #...

After today I'm jobless. Go economy!!! My first and only job since I moved to SF in November 99. Would have been nine years at my job come January.

Sucks to be laid off, but at some point in February when I get my package, I'll finally be in a position to move to LA to be with my family.

But the main point of this post is that I ton of you have my cell# and we text. Thing is, my phone is from my work and I have to turn it back in today and they won't let me take the number...so I have to get a new number when I pick up some new phone later today or tomorrow.

So don't text me!!! I have a copy of my address book and once I get it in my new phone I'll send a text to all with the new info!!

I just don't want the phone to be given to some other employee and have that person get some texts meant for me....

I know this isn't the place to post this, but this is easier for me on this hectic day!

Don't worry about me right now (lot of people I've told have been very supportive, thank you all!)...this is something I've kinda been hoping for so I could get a severance and get to LA...though the timing with the economy kinda sucks.

Man sorry to hear that ... I guess the bright side is being with family and 9 years worth of a severance package, same happened to me around 2000 I had worked for Allied Domecq for 9 years and got laid off, everything worked out just fine and I am sure it will for you as well

Yes the countdown has begun!!!

The last time i was in L.A. (Thanks Joshua Allen & Vahid!) it was pure bliss!!! Both nights were more x2 then Rich's Nuttier Squirrel Sh!t!!!

This year has been a pretty crazy year for many people and it's going to continue onto next year. Keep positive Dave T.! At least you'll be with family now and the rest of the peeps down here in LA.

Sucks to hear about your job Dave. I was in that position late last year and early this year. At least your getting a severance. When we got bought we had to pack up and take off.

I'll record this weekend so you don't miss nuffin. I kno that when you do make the move to LA, it will be different not seein you out there in SF.

Sorry to hear about your job, Dave. I've gone through plenty of layoffs in my career and not only does everyone land on their feet, but more often than not, it becomes a catalyst for finding new and better opportunities. I know it will all work out for you.

As for you moving to LA, it's unfortunate for us SFTAs to lose such an integral member, but family always comes first and I'm glad to hear that you'll be closer to them. LATA, y'all treat Dave right down there!

oh shit that blows, but as everyone said, you will do well. You have a good solid work history.

Also, I got a buddy that works in the entertainment industry. pm me with more info on what you can do with regards to production (pre, post, and ongoing) and I will ask him if he knows anyone that is hiring.
