Great time last night!

Although, my ears are ringing pretty bad today. They had the highs turned up a little too high during Blank & Jones' set. Anyone else feel the same way?

I really, really hate vanguard.

The bouncers are assholes, there's a $40 minimum charge on credit cards now, ONE beer costs $8 (you have got to be fucking kidding me, I can buy a 6 pack for that much), parking is $20 (they advertise $15 - if you're going to charge $20 advertise fucking $20). the crowd is terrible, I got SHOVED multiple times. Seriously, people would come up and literally just shove me out of the way. that kind of shit has NEVER happened in any clubs I've been to in SF, sacramento, or san diego, or any other clubs I go to in LA, and not even in massives where it's wall to wall packed.

I haven't been since april since I had such a horrible time, however this just blew it out of the water in terms of terribleness.

I really wish gareth emery was playing at circus so I never have to think about going back there, but it looks like I'm going in January.

the music was really good though. blank and jones were incredible :-)

edit: also the sound fucking sucks there

Wow, such great music last night! Kristina had me on the floor right away and the it was packed early into the night. I really enjoyed Cosmic Gate's set...they opened with the stunning track "Meet Me in Montauk" by the Signalrunners and it just kept getting better. Had never seen Bossi and Nic live, and I was really impressed with the track selection, flow and quality of their set!

Cosmic Gate came on earlier and finished earlier than I expected, but Blank & Jones finished off the night with more great tracks in a longer set that kept the floor full until closing at 4. If I remember right, they closed with "DJ's, Fans & Freaks (DFF)," not my all-time favorite but a good crowd pleaser.

I agree that Vanguard should not advertise "$15 valet parking right next to the club" http://groovetickets.com/ordersyste...NT%20Hollywood

If a store advertised one price and then charged another, they would have to honor the advertised price and the state could also fine them. This has been pointed out before and one of the promoters said they would look into it, but the false advertising continues. I guess nightclubs don't have to live by normal business rules or something...I remember parking next to Avalon once (where there's no rate posted on the street), going down a small alley with 5 cars behind and then seeing a sign for $35 parking!!!

Drink prices are high, but I remember that beers were $10 each at Monster Massive! Movie theaters charge $4 for a medium Coke now and the popcorn is even higher. I guess everything keeps going up, but if people stopped buying then the prices would come down. Not like that's gonna happen when there's a captive audience though!

I'm definitely not going to Vanguard as much anymore for the above mentioned reasons, but I can only imagine what will happen after Circus is replaced with a bunch of Condos...

I did manage to get some pics (why do 7' tall guys have to stand right in front of the DJ blocking all view???) but had to delete most since the lighting was dim. These are the ones that came out best:

That night was seriously one for the books!! I knew it was gonna be sick when I walked in and Kristina Sky was playing Blake Jarrell's "Dude I just wanna Dance". Awesome job by Kristina!!

I think Cosmic Gate and Blank & Jones both did an incredible job as well. I aggree with above comments. Cosmic Gate's track selection is so damn good, and when they dropped "Exploration of Space" the place went crazy!!

As far as the speaker issue with Blank & Jones... ya that kinda sucked. I was loving there set but the volume killed my ears. Had to leave about half way through there set or I would have been deaf by the end of the night. I guess they hooked up another mixer and they must have been red lining it or something. Or at least that's what it sounded like.

As far as the prices on drinks and what not. I think you need to do a good amount of prepartying before going to the Vanguard and then your just working on keeping your buzz going. Well that's what I did Saturday and it worked.

Over all the night was Epic imo!!!
