Made a music video for Above & Beyond!

Last saturday 2 friends and me went to the city to film a music video for Above & Beyond.

They announced a competition for a music video to be made for their latest song "On a good day" and we figured we'd give it a shot.
Spent the day in Manhattan filming, meeting people, having a ton of fun and laughs.

The idea of the video was to write the lyrics of the song on papers and have random people hold them in front of the camera with NYC in the background...

Youtube obviously killed the quality and can't really see the writings in some of the scenes, but it's very easy to follow as it's the same as the song.

Its not such a great vedio, progress is too slow.. and the car is moving too fast.

But for a trance vedio everything goes.. could have filmed more girls and tits.

Edit: And everyone is wearing horrible dress.. what time you filmed this vedio? Five in morning?

The video isn't professionally done. 1 day to film, 1 to edit the clips together. Sorry it doesn't meet your high standards, will try harder next time.

Filmed from 8AM to 7PM last Saturday in NYC. Temp's were between 30-40F.

I see you dont take criticism well.. 30-40F? What is that.. Hudson River water level?

I take it well, thanks. Been getting feedback (negative and positive) all morning. Yours sounded more like shit talking than criticism, but who knows, it's just text so I might have overreacted.

In Celsius that's -1 to +4 degrees.

Is this the sort of shit Above & Beyond are putting out these days? My word how the shit get shitter.

I hope you've handed out disclaimer forms to all those people you filmed footage of.

The negative comments really don't mean shit to me. I'm sure there are people out there who enjoyed the video as much as we enjoyed making it.

I very much doubt it because the video isn't very good, nor is it very original. But if clinging to that makes you feel better about yourself, or wins you whatever competition this is, then fantastic!

Great little video! I won't judge you on the song, but the video was well done. The paper pad was at times washed out, but whatever.

As for quality, youtube has a HD version of it, its a link just below the video. Cheers!

LOL oh well... it is what it is... it sucks then it sucks, what can I do... sorry I decided to share it with you and waste your time.

i like the idea.. but not for the whole song (it gets a bit repetitive). Because of that though, i think they will undoubtedly use a few seconds of footage from your video in their final take.

i've created a video myself, but to be honest it only really means something to me and the other person in it -still im hopeful they will use a clip from mine as well. Ill be waiting till a day or two before the deadline to upload it.

Awesome! We were thinking to wait until the last moment also, but had no plans on editing or changing the video later, so decided to upload it now.

You shouldn't have used the people dressed as Santa as that assigns the video a christmas niche.

you guys say the 'crap' they are putting out now, yet they havent changed from their vocal trance they were releasing years ago. if you dislike above & beyond because of what they release, that's fine. but you certainly cant say they've changed their sound and your disappointed that it's a vocal trance poppier sound, because that's what they've always done

as for the video, it's quite well done. i do some projects of my own that i don't really release ever but for fun, so i know what kind of work goes into little clips like these. the car scenes remind me of the tracking treasure down video from years ago too.

did u get everyone's email who participated so you can show them your work they are in?

Same here. I guess we're in the minority!

To be honest (as I've mentioned in another thread) most EDM videos aren't great so you don't have to go to amazing standards to get something that gets a thumbsup from me. I'm used to seeing this kind of nonsense:


Low cost doesn't necessarily mean a bad video. I liked the idea and if I saw it on the TV I'd be quite happy!

That's the problem I guess. Most think it's a piece of cake to make it. Given a budget, production crew and a month to make a video I'm sure the result would have been much more satisfying...

Yes, we did get the emails and link to the video has already been sent out.
