Learning and becoming...

So I can beatmatch pretty darn good (I do it entirely with the pitch control). I can almost phrase match all the time (like 8 out of 10 times, it's hard to remember how each track ends and starts though).
I am currently working on my first demo and have been working on it every day for the last week. My question is, when should I start looking to play out? Should I get my demo done and just start promoting and work at getting a gig? Or should I wait and continue to play at home for awhile longer?

Any DJ's here that have played some parties/clubs have any advice? Was it better to wait and practice more or just go out and start getting experience in front of people?

play at someparties that you know of. just like high school ones or with your friends, it gets you used to spinningunder pressure. just little ones and workup
