anybody with 4 gigs of ram in their macbook?

contemplating picking up some more ram, but i have heard that unless your running massive vsts and what not in a daw...almost no real performance increase.

is this true?

im just djing using torq and everyday computer usage...so i could see how 4 gigs might help...but dont want to be blowing cash if its not going to make a huge difference.

I got 4 Gigs on my MacBook Pro and I love it!!! I got them for $30 at Frys! Can't go wrong with that.

did you see a noticeable performance increase though? even if it is marginal?

I'm running with 1gb right now with no problems in Logic or Traktor Scratch. I will probably upgrade to 4 soon since it is so cheap.

Yes. There's a noticeable performance boost. Do it; it only cost me $90.

cool...i just wanted to confirm that it was going to be worth it

I don't know how you would do it on mac but see if you can monitor memory usage.
Its the best way to see if more RAM will help.

it's worth it if you run alot of VSTs

+1

Same for me.

Check slickdeals.net for awesome ram deals. You should really pay no more than 30-40 max after rebate for 2x2gb sticks.

I run Torq and the extra RAM definitely helps when you're running multiple VSTs.

Open the command line and run either

`top`

or

`cat /proc/meminfo`

4gb is the best thing i ever did for my mac

I'm running Logic, itunes, firefox, ical, and Traktor Scratch with two decks going with keylock on plus effects and I still have 8.60mb free ram out of 1024mb, but I'm still going to upgrade since it is so cheap.

I got 2 gigs for my macbook pro. You got 4 for 30 bucks. Show me!!!

By the way, I just brought macbook pro less than a month ago, and there is no doubt that I am not going back to PC. Serato Scratch Live is meant run on Macbook Pro not PCs.
