fave stuff this year

I'm loving the Dance4Life album which you can get at http://dance4life.trackitdown.net/. Great exclusive mixes from Tiesto and gang and all for great cause. Great Christmas gift I reckon and all to help fight HIV and AIDS. :-)

lol, least subtle plug ever

I haven't downloaded that many sets this year (maybe 5-6 in total), Sander van Doorn's Planet Love Essential Mix would probably be up there though.
Greg Downey's Live As CD is awesome, not sure if that was this year or last.

live I've heard some doozies,
DJ Taj in LA for Josh Allen's b'day bash (although that could be a copious alcohol memory),
Josh Allen at that same gig was pretty good too (see above)
Sander van Doorn and Menno de Jong were great at Godskitchen Melbourne,
Sister Bliss's main set at Summadayze was great.
Booka Shade were brilliant

Disappointing:
Markus Schulz - I've heard him play an awesome set in a club before, but played at a music festival and played a GDJB type set. It was ok, but not great and I know that he can be soooo much better.
Eddie Halliwell - played shit
John Digweed - it was 40+ degrees in the blazing sun and just no one could be bothered
Markus Schossow - sucked so bad
Carl Cox - worst I've seen him
MIKE - pretty standard trance in a club about a 1/4 full

Posted by Ian on Dec-22-2008 14:01:

london elektricity essential mix
nicholas bennison - promo mix march 2008
marco v - planet love ireland june 2008

Well, this year I was into TA sets more than anything else. These come highly recommended:

Ambrosia mixed by Myra Romano

Sunny Side Up mixed by DJ Vega

Deep Down N' Dirty mixed by DJ Vega

Fall '08 Mix mixed by denys envy

Matcha mixed by Blueshift

Rob Turner - Two Hour Featured Artist Mix for Proton Radio

Gonzo mixed by Rob Turner

Stumbling in the Dark mixed by enydo

Chris May's November '08 Promo Mix

On The Far Side of the Milky Way mixed by Yohan

Be Deep mixed by Bas

I know I'm forgetting some of these, but I'll check my iPod and post them. There was a Bas and Clovis b2b set that I can't find a link to right now...

As for non-TA sets, there were also some real stormers:

Luke Fair - Welcome MixMag Hungary - 04-Dec-2008

Rowan Blades b2b balErik - Kikkiboat 26.07.2008

Dana Bergquist @ Danceteria, Helsinki (October 3rd, 2008)

Tom Morgan live @ Saklikent, Ankara - Dec 6th, 2008

Desyn Masiello - Live @ SOS Boat Cruise, New York - August 2, 2008

Again, sure I'm forgetting some but I'll check my iPod and post them later.

Thanks fellas.

Alright, lemme see what I was absolutely jamming to this year...

As far as the "pros" go, the Funk D'Void live @ Circus set from last June is something I've listened to pretty much nonstop this year, a few of the Cobblestone Jazz live sets have gotten a lot of play, and somewhat randomly "Henry ft Harre and Serafin live at Betalounge, Hamburg May 7 2005" was given to me by Myra a while back, and I absolutely love it. For those not in the know, Serafin is one half of Mountain People with Rozzo/Peter Dildo.

Now, when it comes to TA sets....

System-J's Epic House Trilogy

Three sets everyone on this forum should listen to regardless of where you flavor in EDM lies. Really well put together, great selection of classics, and have gotten LOADS of plays from me.

Uncredible Haak September 2008 Mix

Brilliant techno/jazz mix from Haak that will really make most folks wish he did a lot more than he does.

Ted Promo two hour dubstep jog

I don't even like Dubstep all that much, but this has gotten a lot of miles out of me as well.

Jetee - Lost Tribes

Downtempo/dubstep/chillout at it's finest/druggiest.

Other than these, though, there are plenty already mentioned in here I'd recommend (Myra' and Bas' in particular, but also basically the whole of house/techno/circle jerk mafioso who post here - Vana, Jay, Oscar, Cmay, Denys, Greg, Clovis, Az, etc.).
