RA DJ Poll

http://www.residentadvisor.net/feat...ad.aspx?id=1000

65. Tiesto

this is why RA owns

RA does it right

Posted by Geoffb3 on Dec-19-2008 20:14:

Agreed ... Finally no real complaints ...

I love this poll... how great is that pic of Sven? hahaha

Posted by slingshot on Dec-19-2008 20:24:

There's a slight techno bias in this list, lol.

There is, but there's also a lot of variety - John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Lee Burridge, Danny Howells, and Matthew Dear all in the top 20, all of whom play completely different styles. I can't exactly say I'm shocked by the results but I like that it isn't completely skewed toward one type of music, even if it is a little biased.

Posted by Bassi77 on Dec-19-2008 22:04:

wow shocking results lol

no Eddie Halliwell?....epic fail! lol

Posted by LightsOut on Dec-19-2008 22:07:

This pole pwns every other pole ive seen.

I can't even argue with the top three at all. Kinda thought Magda would be a little higher then 9, but honestly, the guys at RA are doing a bang on job with this.

Posted by Cribby on Dec-19-2008 22:14:

Wicked!

Posted by Orko on Dec-19-2008 22:32:

Been listening to more and more Laurent Garnier this year.

this poll is about ridiculous as the DJMag poll

Finally we agree on something.

Posted by trancetiesto on Dec-19-2008 23:47:

the poll is biased like the dj mag one

again, it gaters to one type of music mostly.

so of course the people who like techno will be happy, just like the people who like trance will love the dj mag one.

I never understand why people put so much emphasis on the polls. Who cares if tiesto is #1 or #250 or what the fuck rank Lee burridge or richie hawtin is.

support the shows you want to see.

I have no disagreements other than, would have thought Joris Voorn should be closer to the top 10.

agreed except that these days a good rating means your gig asking price goes up.

Posted by Tunnel Rat on Dec-20-2008 01:30:

This poll clearly proves Richie Hawtin is NOT the hottest DJ in the world right now.

And it isn't so much that the poll is techno biased...it's just biased to a certain style of techno. There's alot of other good techno names not even on the list. It's just that Richie and friends are promoting their style better. (obviously)

(I too like seeing Dear near the top.)

While i agree that these kind of polls are always going to be biased and misleading, IMO this is by far more accurate in terms of technical ability and skill, compared to others i have seem, especially DJ Mag.

I completely agree with Villalobos in the top spot, as well as Hawtin @ 2, and even Luciano at 3. I was surprised by a couple entries, and a little shocked by the omission of others, but overall i found it quite well done.

Having seen the likes of Villalobos, Vath, Hawtin, and Magda play @ places like Fusion Festival, WeekEnd, Watergate and Tresor this summer in Germany, i can tell you they are extremely worthy of their high ranking, and IMO are capable of brining it on a whole different kind of level, that i've never experienced here.

At the end of the day, i find it refreshing to finally see a Top 10 that doesnt contain Corsten, Tiesto, Van Buuren, or Van Dyk. Although i agree they are masters of their craft, it seems RA has finally come up with a formula that is based more on technical ability and merit, then album sales and popularity. Well done to RA.

This poll is bullshit like all the other ones. Danny D is nowhere to be found

How is the RA poll better than the DJmag poll? What formula?
