Awesome shit Rob, Downloading

Oh, and 'Ronald Christoph - Underground Limbo' is sick...I almost used it on 'Dark Light' but couldn't really find a coherent place to put it in.

Posted by RJT on Dec-26-2008 05:11:

For the record, I would not describe myself as particularly coherent, now, or when this was recorded.

Posted by woscar on Dec-26-2008 05:18:

Mixing while fucked up ftw!

I had a large bottle of Chimay and one of La Chouffe that I got for Christmas - it was only appropriate to drink them and spin some tunes!

I think the misspelling is appropriate if only because you guys should be grateful I was capable of writing out that coherent a tracklist last night.

And Az, lucky for you Stu missed the bit of vocal cack you were busting my balls for last night.

heard it last night , it was a very proper set for Xmas

Any wayss i think that track is original from "Dakar" and the" lopazz" is another remix of it ,

listening now, lots of tunage in that tl.

Cheers, Kenny. I definitely wound up just housing it up pretty good last night - so it's a pretty energetic set IMO, though "energetic" for me might put a fair number of people to sleep.

Hope you enjoy it.

I certainly did, Rob. The mixing wasn't as tight as your usual, booze of course. But it was really, really nice; I'm loving the subtle Chicago influence.

Posted by woscar on Dec-26-2008 23:01:

Heard this last night. It's got 'Rob Turner' written all over it
I'll post a more thorough review later, in the meantime I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed it

Awesome. Really wish I was around to hear it live.

How'd I miss this right away? Probably because I've been recovering from a 24 Hour hang-over since Christmas Night. In. In. In.

I am seriously feeling these Chicago/Detroit-influenced tracks. I hear a lot of old school influences from the 80s and 90s. I hear these tracks and find a renewed hope for the underground. It happened in the mid-80s and early 90s and now 2010+ looks hopeful too. It's exciting for me to hear the minimalism of Detroit, soul of Chicago, deepness of NJ/NY and the progressiveness of San Fran being experimented with. I wonder if the dissonance and industrialism of 80s and early- 90s techno/breakbeat will see a resurgence as well.

I have no doubt that this recession is going to bring out some very interesting and tasty music to our ears. ...Exits the stale cheese and enters the well-aged wine.

Love this mix. Thanks. Impressive.

You can really hear me go from about zero to drunk almost instantly around about the time "Ride the Pony" mixes in.

Awww, thanks m8. To be totally honest, I really just think that this:

...in a pretty general sense reflects my own taste and choice in tunes for the past few years. I don't really ever try to seek out much on purpose, but what I find and like almost always carries the influence of old Detroit techno, Chicago house, deep _________, and good old fashioned (and sometimes utterly cheesy) prog house/trance.

Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed the mix, and if you wanted to try any of my other stuff the link in my sig heads to my archive thread.

Cheers.

I DID IT!

I DOWNLOADED IT

I CAN'T WAIT TO GET HOME AND LISTEN TO THIS AMAZING SET

Posted by woscar on Dec-29-2008 22:04:

OK Rob, listened to this a couple of times now. Your track selection, like I said before reeks of you

Although, this time it was a bit more techno than the other mixes I've heard from you. On other occasions you've managed to come up with a banging techno set while still housing it up (Sounds Like Robots, your Nefardelfreak Project mix, etc). Not so much this time around. The house was still there, but not as much as on those mixes. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it a lot.

I didn't hear any noticeable fuck-ups in your mixing. I loved the way you mixed into "Underground Limbo". I wasn't following the tracklist the first time I listened to it, so hearing the bleeping intro just sneaking in like that totally took me by surprise. Awesome job!

Eagerly await your next mix
