Question Where is Perry O'Neil?

I have returned to the trance scene after quite a while, and I was looking up what my favorite artists were up to. Where is Perry O'Neil? I couldn't find any information about him... is he producing under a different alias?

Posted by Azz3D on Dec-27-2008 22:34:

He started a new project named "Patch Park"

No problem. Yeah, you can add a 'RIP' to your 'awesome' comment. It was a dog which was crowned "the ugliest dog in the world" several years in a row. It died in 2006 I think.

Really? Do tell who your favorite artists are. I hope they're doing something really original...

Good stuff. Although my favorites were his remixes of 'Audioholics - External Key' and 'St. John vs. Locust - Mind Circles'. Kubik was good stuff too. So were his remixes of 'Somewhere' and 'Perfect Silence'...

edited for adding grammatical correctitude

He is Patch Park now -> http://www.myspace.com/patchpark
Seems like he went to house/minimal/electro ...

who my favourite artist is, and what they're doing is irrelevant to the topic, and I don't have any favourite artist anyway. we were talking about perry o'neill. tit

Well, since you have such a firm grasp on what's 'mcprog' and can instantly recognize what a mediocre DJ O'Neil is, maybe you can tell me about artists who you hold in comparatively higher regard. Be my teacher, tell me what I should like and what iinferior and run-of-the-mill music I should protect my ears and my mind from.

Yeah, I love titties too.

EDIT: JHChrist, >correctitude< is actually a word. I swear I had never heard it before. I thought I made it up!

dude, you posted on tranceaddict about someone who produced trance in the past. you couldnt have expected any more of a response than the one you received :P

Sorry, I didn't know that doing so was an unspoken forbidity (yeah, I just made that word up). I appreciated most of O'Neil's work and since I was kinda out of touch (Universal Religion was the last CD I bought), I asked here. I'm sorry, it will never happen again. The next time I can't find the whereabouts of an artist, I'll just presume he's dead and move on.

EDIT: Sorry, I am a little drunk right now, but his remix of External Key is my favorite piece of music ever (yet); I haven't found anything yet which affects me the way that track does. OK, maybe some of Mendelssohn's stuff. Not that I am comparing the two, but entirely different things may affect a person in the same waY.

I don't want to form any premature opinions of 'Patch Park'. I'll check it out when I am sober. I'll probably not like it, because I hate that house bullshit anyway.

on a more serious note, its sad that people don't give proper responses around here if they don't share your taste in music. also sad that only like 1% of the forum posters here actually listen to trance anymore.

the external key original is one of my favorite tracks of all time, though i haven't heard the perry o'neil remix

Both the original and remix of Eternal Key are really good. The O'neill Remix is very typical Perry sounding with the hypnotic melody that never goes anywhere.

That was an epic remix. Fantastic track with both the original and remix.

Motorcycle - As the rush comes (Perry O'Neil Instrumental Mix)
Audioholics - Externel key (Perry O'Neil Remix)
St John vs. Locust - Mind Circles (Perry O'Neil Mix)

I wish he would produce more stuff like that

Why don't you ask him, why did he change his style? I think he is checking his myspace address..

you seem to be obsessed with comparing one DJ to another. why? perry o'neill is mediocre, end of. in 10 years' time, no one will remember him, which is exactly what should happen. and if you want some education, go and find out for yourself, i'm not going to waste my time cultivating the tastes of n00b from the US. and learn how to spell.

lots of mediocre DJs have done this, especially trance and hard house / dance (eg eddie halliwell). now they all play minimal.

Posted by Damerchi on Dec-28-2008 11:37:

minimal djs have small decks

why do you think it's called minimal

Posted by BlueSky on Dec-28-2008 11:51:

I guess it's easier to make 56 minimal/electro tracks for 2 weeks, instead of making superb progressive trance... Kinda mau5ish..

I think that Vincend de Moor can produce about 12 minimal/electro tracks per day if he wanted to.

The guy produced carte blanch in one day for gods sake.

There was just a thread on this topic posted less than 2 months ago.

His new stuff is a lot better than ASOT, that's for sure. Still meh.

Posted by Ted Promo on Dec-28-2008 18:00:

I'm guessing he's no longer relevant. I've heard some of the Patch Park stuff and it wasn't the least bit memorable.
