DJ's obsessively touching the mixer
Ever watch a dj that keeps fiddling with the mixer (or controller) even though they're not really doing anything? I never understood this. A track can only be EQ'ed so perfectly and then after that there's really no point in fucking with everything.
I'll see if I can find an example on youtube
Jeff Mills

Oh it happens a lot when you see videos of DJs in action and I never understand it.
Christian Smith
a part of the DJ Guild conspiracy to make the majority of the audience by into the "Hey did you here how he mixed that track live from scratch dude! fuck he is a wiz with those knobs!"

Mark EG obsessively bleeds on the mixer.
You can still do stuff with the EQs while the track is playing. Faux builds and such.
Most of it is for show tho.

there are other ways to mix then drop track, wait 6 minutes and drop another one.

A good DJ knows when to take a step back and let the track come through without interference.
he's creating every new sound you hear with a twist of a different knob
noob
seems like being called a DJ will be offensive soon
djs are so.... pathetic.... damn... i even feel ashamed when spinning vinyl in my room
need to learn a piano or something

Someone should just mix a commercial fluff trance set composed entirely of breakdowns, don't even mix in the pre / post-breakdown nonsense. Seeing as each breakdown stretches from 2-6 minutes it probably wouldn't be tough.

I tend to play with the eq quite a bit to keep the levels even, and I have a habit of playing with filters/effects a lot because my mixer doesn't have them lol. Trying to quit that
Maybe some DJs are nervous and that's just what they end up doing? Knowing myself, I'd probably do the same thing, whenever I get nervous I tend to just fiddle with things.
Peter Hook wouldn't qualify as obsessive touching of the mixer...more like ridiculous and pathetic. Still delivers the lulz though
I don't really touch the mixer when there's nothing to do but if both hands are busy actually doing something, I'm getting really into it and there's a cymbal crash on the first of a phrase, then I tend to throw my left hand up in the air a little bit.
