-- Hello 2009
Hello 2009
Mirror's Edge PC (January 13th)
Quake Live (very soon)
Bionic Commando (Febuary)
Trine (second quarter)
Street Fighter IV (Febuary)
Bioshock 2 (unspecified, most likely fourth quarter)
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (2009 confirmed, exact date unspecified, most likely third quarter)
Diablo III (ok, probably not, but one can dream)
In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is where you post upcoming 2009 releases you're intruiged by or looking foward to. Here's a partial list, if you're feeling short on inspiration; Part 1, Part 2.
I personally think 2009 might just be the best year in gaming since 1999.

Starcraft 2 looks amazing in action. I can't say I'm too excited of possibly paying 150 dollars to play through the series. Kind of a cheap move to those who don't give two shits about the fucking campaign, and just want to play the multiplayer.
Multiplayer still gets upgrades on the same level that brood war did, the only difference is that now there's two expansions instead of one, and they each have more content. I prefer it this way actually. If they didn't do that, then after SC2 comes out, it would be another ten years or so before we see another starcraft game, now at least we get new stuff up to 2011 or so. Makes sense, if they're going to spend so many years designing an engine like that, they should spend a little more time exploiting it. Supposedly they're doing the same with D3. They've confirmed that it will be the last diablo game, but also that it would likely have multiple expansions.
so if you don't buy the expansions or you get 2/3, or if you get 3/3, you get split into different communities?
Yes, but then who still plays starcraft without brood war, or diablo 2 without LOD? It doesn't split the player base in three, it just gradually transitions them from one to the other.
Besides, if you get the first one, and after over a year you still enjoy it enough to be playing it regularly in multiplayer, then what possible reason would you have for not getting the expansion?
Not at all excited about 09
The only game I can think of is aliens: colonial marines.

I can't wait for Starcraft II, personally.
Indeed, that will be the highlight of the year.
HL2 Ep3
D3 is not going to be released anytime soon, at least what was playable at Blizzcon still needs a lot of work.
SC2 is fucking phenomenal. It is going to be everything you think it is and more. An RTS's guy wet dream.
Either then that, not really sure what else to be looking out for, hopefully something innovative. A patch that acutally works and is useful from EA/Dice for BF2 would be nice.
You want a list? This is a list: http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/games-of-2009/
I'm looking forward to:
Deus Ex 3
Sims 3
Operation Flashpoint 2
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Splinter Cell 5
...among other new exciting titles.

I thought Deus Ex 3 was cancelled, good to see it still on the radar.
When is the new Splinter Cell releasing again? I feel it was announced years ago but never saw the light of day, fearing it too bit the bullet.
I'm eagerly awaiting the PS3 version of SFIV. The Playstation controller is the ultimate for fighting games if you ask me.
