Staff Reporter

Police are looking for one suspect after a bouncer was shot in a downtown club early this morning.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. at Hotel Boutique Lounge, located on 77 Peter St. When police arrived the victim was in the bathroom suffering from a gunshot wound to his side. The suspect had fled the scene.

He was brought to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The shooting investigating is ongoing and police are unsure of the relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Police are looking for a male, black, 5-foot-8, around 200 pounds with grills on his teeth.

Hotel Boutique Lounge is a small club that caters to an upscale, dressy crowd.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 52 division at 416-808-5201.

Hotel would be the last club I'd expect this to happen at, wowsa.

All it takes is one dumbass!

For example: Police are looking for a male, black, 5-foot-8, around 200 pounds with grills on his teeth

I think it was a female bouncer. Because the headline on thestar.com says 'women shot at downtown nightclub', and then when you actually click on it the title says 'bouncer shot at.....'. So 2 + 2 = female bouncer I am guessing.

I don't think it was a female bouncer.

Really? I don't find it that much of a shocker, esp if it was not the typical electronic night that you guys go to and are familiar with.

I'm not shocked when I hear about anyone getting shot in Toronto anymore...doesn't matter which club and which night it is.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Dec-30-2008 16:24:

this kind of puts a cramp into the new year's day thing there. there will be more police around. well, this could be good too. more fun if you feel safer?

i was at crappy tire yesterday getting my emissions test done and was flipping through the toronto sun and realized there are a lot of shootings in the gta that are considered small news.

Its the ones that involve a club or are in the entertainment district that seem to be more news worthy...hmmmmmmmmm

hrmmm.. was this inside the club or outside??? really doesn't say

Security there is normally pretty good, i always get searched well when i come in AND after i come back in from having a smoke, this is more then i can say for a lot of other clubs.

AND

after something like this happens you know its gonna be extra tight for the next while, im sure the party on NYD will be perfectly safe

yea I noticed that too. Gang shooting here, house dispute involving a gun there.. it's almost "normal" now. Or at least the media make it out to be that way.

seriously , a girl shot in a beaches bar in critical condition on sat night and barely any mention of it. That's big time news around here.

Hotel is good...

Security has been on point and nice everytime I've visited...

There are some wannabe thug kids, i only make this assumption due overhearing "gangsta" banters while taking a leak. But they all seem pretty harmless and fairly young.

I'm sure weapon checks will be in effect from now on.
