Hostels

Anyone else staying in one this year? I didn't realize their were so many in south beach. I was looking at booking a private 4bed room with 2 other people since i'm going with g/f so I don't have to pay for the whole room just for us 2. Don't feel like doing the whole mixed with 4 other strangers lol. They have some really decent looking ones on collins around the shelbourne, national, etc.

really? i always knew there was one, but i never knew there were more. not that i need one, but im still curious, how much are they?

I mean at the cheapest during non wmc season you can get a bed for as cheap as $15 a night. It all varies.

The less specific you are the cheaper.

For example an 8 bed, mixed room for one person you can find as cheap as $25 a night during wmc. That's if you don't mind sharing a room with 7 other strangers and that is not gender specific. Their is also female only dorms/male only dorms. Of course with each specification the price goes up, and the less amount of people you share a room with the more it costs. In any case its not too bad even if your doing what i'm doing which is a private 4 bed room. I've found it for as cheap as 25 per person. The whole private thing though is better suited for people who are traveling with friends seeing as how you have to book the whole room, so they charge you per room instead of per bed.

Either way I found a hostel right on collins right next to the shelbourne for something like 450 after taxes for wed night thru sunday morning for a private 4 bedroom. So roughly it would be about $112 or so per person for 4 nights/5 days to stay in south beach during conference. Sounds pretty good to me at least.

yea, im aware of hostels. ive stayed in a bunch last time i was in europe doing some backpacking. i just never realized there was more than one on south beach.

they are really great for meeting people too. atleast the ones in amsterdam, paris, barcelona, and rome where. lol.

yea they are a sweet little deal if you dont mind the sharing the room stuff. personally i never had a problem with it. in amsterdam there were like 18 bunk beds in one room. lol. but fuck it. i wasnt there to hang out in a hostel, so who cares about the room? i was there to see the city. and honestly, i smoked so god damn much, i had no problem falling asleep even with that many people in one room. plus they give you lockers so its not like you gotta worry about your shit getting jacked.
