Giant NYE ID question
so due to the lack of anything else interesting going on we might be thinking about hitting up giant for nye....except that my friend doesn't have a driver's license. will they accept a US passport as a form of ID?
I'm pretty sure they will accept that as a form of ID.

They let my friend in with a passport last year. EDM events in touristy areas are pretty lenient with passports since they attract the international crowd.
Some OC clubs won't take them, and I know Wavehouse in San Diego won't either. But your friend should be fine.
in theory they have to accept it as it is a legal form of identification. sometimes you get uninformed/ignorant security personnel....i would say if somehow your friend has a problem go to another security person or ask for a supervisor.
my girlfriend was using an international ID last year to Tiesto NYE Giant, but again we came around 12.03am after the countdown, and there was no line.
and like Cool1g said, if your friend has a problem getting in, I would go to the supervisor...
its the law, they have to accept it as a form of ID.

thanks for all your help guys! hopefully we can get in without any issues.
If it's a passport (booklet), than yes, they have to accept it. But if it's one of those Border Crossing/VISA issued by INS (Like the one below), they CAN'T ACCEPT IT. That's because ABC doesn't recognize it as a legal form of ID. However, most clubs will let you in with it.

if it helps, in Vegas for NYE last year, Empire would *not* let my wife in with her (Brazilian) drivers license, and would *only* accept a passport (besides a US drivers license)...can't see why they wouldn;t take it....except for the security being uninformed and never traveled outside the country, which is indeed possible.
I have friends from Mexico that have the green passports and take these to EDM events all the time. They don't drive or have IDs but many clubs with Giant nights have taken them all the time without worry... even better when one of my friends shows the doormen that Armin van Buuren signed one of the pages of his passport haha
As long as you have a government issued ID they'll let you in. Passports included. If they give you any grief talk to the police, seriously.
you have to be pretty fucking stupid to turn away a united states passport as an id. that's the most legitimate form of id you can produce.
- if a bouncer give you shit, repeat those exact words.

| Originally posted by DjWoody That's not true. Those Border Crossing Cards/Visa's I posted earlier are US Government issued and they are not recognized by ABC as valid ID's. But most clubs will let you in with them. I know for a fact House of Blues, Wavehouse, Yardhouse, and Morongo hesitate with those ID's. Depending on the bouncer they'll let you in. |
My first fake ID was an Israeli id I color photocopied and laminated. Worked like a charm to gamble in Vegas. Didn't work for the clubs though.
I guess if it looks real, they will take it. But if you look young and it looks like a monkey business form of id, I can see why they may decline.
A foreign ID is not a valid form of US ID.
A US PASSPORT is 100% valid and more credible then a CA Drivers license.
By law they have to accept it. If you get some idiot that gives you a hard time then you can easily bitch them out and get in anyway.
