It has begun: Happy New Year Everyone!

I don't think anybody cares about those families living in remote islands being the first to welcome the new year, but 2009 has already reached quite a few big countries (New Zealand, Japan), and there's nothing on the first page yet. So,

Happy New Year, everyone!!!

If you think it's too early, just post according to your time zone

I'll be in Orlando for the countdown...rented a house with friends, doing an NYE BBQ tonite...tomorrow we hit MGM [now known as Hollywood] Studios - which they will be having a light show & fireworks, & Friday is Islands of Adventure!

I'm not gonna lie though 2008 was a rather good year! I think 2009 will be even better.

I'm not into this kind of comparison but, given the importance of the new year here in Brazil, I find it hard to believe that it is bigger in the US.

I could me mistaken, but I can't imagine American dressing all the same, for example (here we all dress in white for the countdown).

What I meant by that is that the new year is pretty much a social event, and I've got the impression that this is not quite the same in the US.

There are these traditions we all follow, and that gives the party some more importance to society in general. It's not just young people partying.

I'm still recovering from the strange symptoms which I seemed to get after watching too much Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (maybe I just have the Hinamizawa Syndrome ) so I'll just stay home alone with my dog for this new year.
