Atmospheric (Intelligent) Drum and Bass?

I'm not sure if atmospheric drum and bass still exist. If that genre still around and you know of some good albums will you please recommend them? I used to love in (about 10 years ago) but I've lost touch.

Thanks in advance!

Dude I love that sh!t. Right now I'm listening to PFM's Danny's Song. There is a lot of it still out there, just look at the record stores. I happen to produce it myself But I'm really out of touch with things right now so .... just keep digging. Did I spell stores correctly?

Thanks for the suggestion, I like it. Any other ideas?

Not sure about any actually new material in this style as i haven't been following it that much since the early 2000s but i still enjoy most what has come out on LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records and its sublabels between 1991-2002.

Artist albumwise some of my favs are Omni Trio - The Haunted Science, Big Bud - Infinity + Infinity and High Contrast - True Colours. One of the more recent mainly smooth d'n'b albums (2007) I enjoy, is Chris Paul & Mia V - 100 Degrees And Rising.

I also recommend to go with Bukem's Logical Progression, Earth, Points In Time, Looking Back and/or Producer compilation series to get some of the finest pieces on Bukem's Good Looking Records and its sublabels. Avoid Progression Sessions series if you're not into d'n'b with MCs, unless you head straight for the instrumental discs.

Ahh yes, love that one. Brilliant tune which PFM did as a birthday present to Danny Williamson aka LTJ Bukem, in 1994 if i remember right. And then finally in 1996 it came out officially on Bukem's timeless compilation + mix-CD titled Logical Progression which i always recommend in these kind of threads. Different pressings feature slightly different cuts of some of the unmixed tracks tho.

Here's a few of my fav classic d'n'b picks; first from Bukem's stable:

Rantoul - Central

PFM - The Western

Seba - Planetary Funk Alert
- edit

Moonchild - View Of Life

Blame - Sphere (Seba Remix)
- rip from Blame's mix-CD, full version available only on 12".

Chameleon - Links
- Tom Middleton & Mark Pritchard's reworked version of Link - Amazon Amenity (Chameleon Remix) which again was their d'n'b remake of their '92 classic Link - Amenity.

Blu Mar Ten - Global Access

LTJ Bukem - Horizons
- edit

LTJ Bukem - Music
LTJ Bukem - Music (Peshay Rework)

Seba & Lotek - Sonic Winds

Seba & Lotek - So Long

Seba - Soul 2000

And some non-Bukem related labels' releases:

The Beloved - The Sun Rising (Tom's Drum & Bass Remix)
- edit

Blue Amazon - And Then The Rain Falls (Blame Remix)
- edit

Omni Trio - Who Are You? (Original 12" Mix)

Omni Trio - Who Are You? (Aquasky Remix)

I listed 4 albums in the 2nd chapter, above the PFM quote. Read again.

Yes.

And this one (the B side) is even better imo.

I don't think any albums or tracks mentioned here are too hard to get. Many of them are "old", from around the 90s so maybe not available new anymore but secondhand easily and for reasonable prices. Digital releases are another thing tho but cd/12"s are out there.

It's all about what are your priorities.. just getting the music or getting the music new from shops. If you can't find something you want, gimme a shout and i'll help you out to get hold of them.

Posted this in another d'n'b thread but it fits just as well in this one. Love it.
