Mark Oliver

Does anyone else think Mark Oliver was the worst DJ at Guv last night? They need to let The Junkies or Carlo Lio take over the main room.

Mark should move on to weddings and banquets now, enough is enough.

Or how about you get up there and show us all how "easy" it is since u know better?

I don't know how to do it better but he's the resident DJ in the main room, when DJs in other rooms are so much better.

It's not my job it's his and when he is doing his job terribly than he should be replaced.

This thread should be abt Steve Lawler; he sucked!!! Mark Oliver was fucking awesome!!! All the rooms except the Koolhaus were going uts that night!!! I just wanna say to all the DJs; great job guys!!!

I keep saying it in every NYE Guv thread EVERY year.... He does not play the usual saturday night music on NYE.

It's a totally different crowd on NYE at the Guv. The crowd is very mixed, with lots ofoffice-type men wearing suits and secretary (admin assis't) types, middle-aged, and some older than skasians, hip hop, everything. Mark plays for the crowd and plays to please everyone out to have a good time.

It's still a great party where you can mingle with all kinds of people and everyone is a lot more social and talkative with everyone, and a LOT less people are high.

But yeah, I still read posts like this year after year by some with the really unfortunate expectation that he'll play like he does on a solo night. I'm sorry the night didn't turn out the way you expected it.

+ 1 he plays to the more mainstream crowd on nye.

Trance would've been better but since I was with friends I still had a great time; definitely some great memories

His set after Lawler was awful... it was so bad it forced our people to leave. He was definitely having an off night.

I have never heard him play like he did last night... horrendous.

Lawler on the other hand was super duper fantastically awesome... he has not been that good in a long ass time.

I guess you prefer shitty house mixed in with songs I would hear at a Cuban vacation resort with a mix of scratched CDs that skip.

And Lawler was great, sorry Steve didn't use CDs that didn't work and stupid vacation songs.

And of course Mark has to play different tracks for his opening set when all the norms are still out but after Steve finished, what Mark did was horrible.

I wasn't around to see Mark Oliver close. I don't really like house music but I thought he was alright, or maybe I was too drunk lol

It's safe to say that after all these years, Mark knows what he's doing... and CD's skipping are just that ... CD's skipping, it happens

Always do but they closed down the other rooms early, the set that Carlo Lio put on was 100 times better than Oliver's. Mark should be put in the Acid Lounge

I cant even count the times anymore that we have had him play for us in Windsor.

Mark has ALWAYS been hit and miss. One night you'll be like "Hot damn, he actually IS good." And a week later you'll be like "Hot damn, he should be spinning for DIIIISTRIIIIIIIIIIICT!"

On NYE, he was a miss. Don't worry, there's a 50/50 chance next week that he'll be a-o-k.

I am not talking about Mark in general... we are talking about last night.

He should not be the one to close for Lawler... the song selection was off, the mixing was horrible and trainwrecking was all the rage.

I'm pretty sure he got drunk as fuck while Steve Lawler was playing; I mean it is NY, DJs need to have fun too so his mind probably wasn't focused.

Give the poor guy a break!!! He is soo underrated.
I prefer trance over house anyday but I had a great time last night.

he got drunk as fuck, and then messed up his mixing? doesn't sound like a good way to keep his job. i don't care if you're a hotshot and its new years, you are being paid to mix so don't get wasted.

i saw mark oliver last saturday after he closed for Robbie Rivera and he was brutal, i had lots of energy left but he sapped it out pretty quick. bad way to end the night.

who the fuck goes to guv on new years?
