Thumbs up PvD has done music for a tv spot: an anti-drug campaign

Perhaps you already knew that, but I was just watching MTV Europe when I suddenly saw this tv spot with a wooden muppet dancing in a spotlight.

Exctasy kills!

And music by Paul van Dyk. I think it shows a lot that he helps such a campaign against drugs, people who need drugs in order to listen to this kind of music suck. I was pretty surprised though!

I wonder if there's a full track of this beauty? Does anybody know more about it? Starfox?

WARNING: ecstacy may make you non-violent, happy and friendly.

Hello Franco,

I saw the clip on Paul`s website last week and it was very nice of him to make a music for this type of commertials.

This will also be a track for Paul`s new album next year, and if you notice, it is similar to the song he played at Rosenmontag`s Rave 2002.

More info to come soon.

Many Greetings,

f0x

Most likely no

i hate how the media always makes electronic music out to be the bad guy.. there is drug use in every music genre.. rap = marijuana, rock = everything, etc = etc..

even jazz was founded upon drug use..

i think these kind of commercials are unfair

whys electronic stuff always blamed for drugs any ways?

Do what you want to do. Who gives a damn. Don't try to force one belief upon other people, especially if it's based on a LOT of propagenda, misinformation and outright lies. OOOOHHHH drugs are bad. Why ? 'Coz PvD says so. And he must be right. He's a famous DJ after all ...

well...i think the point is that Electronic music is Electronic music, and not just ecstasy-poppin' tunes.

i don't think it's like those drug-free videos they make you watch in junior high.

Actually, it's EXACTLY like that.
Don't you think that for an adult, you're being patronized WAY too much through little stunts like this.

After all, electronic music culture and drug culture have always went hand in hand. Now before some jackass starts reading between the lines and says something along the lines 'you don't need drugs to enjoy trance', I'm not saying that everybody who listens to electronic music must automatically do massivea amounts of drugs. But to deny this part of the culture is to deny the culture itself. You can't really have one without the other. So instead of collaborating on some propaganda clips, why not just accept the things the way they are now and just go with the flow.

PvD (and all musicians in general) should stick to what they do best - making music - and quit trying to make political statements and lay off the "holier than thou" attitude. It's insulting.

As far as it getting airplay on our in the U.S..

I did see a commercial on tv yesterday with a girl dancing away, who then suddenly collapses. It was an anti-extacy commercial. Not sure if it was the same one or not. I was not paying all that much attention at first. Then I laughed at it. Sure like 2 out of 100,000 people may have a bad reaction.. just like people do with bees. Other things pretending to be E can kill.. sure.. But that is like saying "raw fish kills"..

Posted by kr00t0n on Jun-07-2002 16:39:

I know it's a bit off topic, but I was just wondering what the scene would be like if there weren't any drugs.

It wouldn't be as popular for one thing, and everyone would probably be drunk, coz it's human nature to do some form of substance abuse.

PvD playing to 40 000 drunk w4nk3rs....? I'm very glad thatdrugs are around

well for a start the world is full of arrogant idiots who like to dish out bad comments over the use of the drug E, and 99.9% of the time theyve never tried it. from there because peopel take drugs in clubs they assoiciate with the music. now, heres where the biggest amount of arrogant mornic narrowminded fucklness comes in! they think peopel take the drug to enjoy the music, they think thats the only reason they take anything, implying that if they didnt take drugs they wouldnt enjoy it, well...

FUCKING GET OUT OF THAT STONE YOUVE BEEN LIVING UNDER FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS!

fucking wake up and smell the beans you fucking idiots. thats not the reason at all, but your all so fucking caught up in the bullshit on tv (like paul van gay's advertising campaign) that your arrogance towards the truth sickens me and other people like me, i wish you sorta people would get a fucking clue, and stop thinking your above sum1 who takes drugs, because REALITY CHECK, your not! infact your probably lower because of your stupid narrowminded views following the majoprity which are non drug users like sheep. it is very sad, you need to live life with an open mind and think about or have first hand experience of sumthing rather than be told about sumthing and made to belive, only then can you know the truth and not be an arrogant wank-sock.

edit: this post was not aimed at blazed it, it was aimed at the people it describes.

Cool

Right on DuMonde man

and more people who use drugs per 1000 are less likely to die from abuse from a 1000 section of people who use alcohol - FACT

Posted by PVD_S11DJ on Jun-07-2002 17:24:

PVD is my favorite DJ/producer and I love his music anytime, but personally feel that it sounds a hell of a lot better on drugs. So, PVD, I disagree!

Hey kurai - In response to your statement "people who need drugs in order to listen to this kind of music suck"... fuck off. Why do we suck? Because we don't have the same beliefs as you? So your opinion is the only right one, huh? Oh, I see. I by no means NEED drugs to enjoy trance at all. I listen to it every single day of the week, before work, after work, at home, on the weekends, all the time. But when I go out on Saturday night to have fun after a hard week, I like to take some beans and feel good and enjoy the music and the club that much more. So we suck because of that? When I didn't do drugs, I surely did not bash people that did. And now that I do, I do not bash people that don't take them. If someone is pushing drugs on you, then you have a right to get angry with them. But don't fucking criticize the rest of us if we're not bothering you.
