Tone2 Gladiator2

Anybody else here have this synth? I bought it about a week ago and I'm hooked. This is one of the best all-around synths (hardware or software) that I've ever owned. HCM synthesis is very cool and this synth is laid out very nicely and intuitively. It's a breeze to program and, most importantly, the sound is incredible.

I've been hearing a bit about this synth lately, will prob check it out after this thread.

How are the oscillators? Anything unique going on there with sound quality?

Could you show me some of your sounds with it? I just dont really trust the mp3 demos lol.

Well, the oscillators and the uniqueness of HCM (Harmonic Content Morphing) syntheses is really what gives this synth its character. It starts with hundreds of hi-quality oscillators/waveforms (no, it's not a rompler) and lets you combine the harmonic content in a multitude of ways and gives you a lot of control over how to modulate them, use one to modulate another, etc. This can give you everything from subtle chorus-type effects to FM, PWM, ring mod, etc.-type effects, to out-of-this-world effects. This synth makes astounding pads, basses, leads, etc., and makes some of the nicest supersaws and choir pads (many vocal/formant oscillators to choose from) I've ever made with ease.

It also has an excellent filter with dozens of filter types (HP, LP, BP, BR, Moog-type, fat, thin, formant, you name it), amazing effects (pretty much the same as those in Warmverb), and a ton of modulation capabilities.

I probably sound like an ad for the synth, huh? Anyway, check out the demo - it's a full-featured version that includes all of the thousand or so presets (which are surprisingly good btw), and it's crippled by a 10-minute/instance time limit and an occasional voice-over.

Speaking of Warmverb, I've been thinking of checking it out. Any good?
(guess I should just try the demo hey! )

Yeah, Warmverb is my go-to effects plug - definitely check out the demo. It's the first Tone2 product I ever purchased, which heavily influenced my decision to buy FilterBank3, my go-to filter. I love both of those so much that they prompted me to dive into Gladiator2. The funny thing is, when Gladiator1 was initially released, I gave the demo a quick try and dismissed it as just another subtractive synth without giving it much chance. Whoops!

I gave the demo a try and liked it quite a bit. Will probably grab it once I have some more funds.
Cubase 4, Omnisphere and brand new DJ gear are kind of stretching the budget

Damn, sounds real nice...Gonna give it a shot.

the precursor was very good, indeed a nice allround synth with a lot of possibilities in changing the timbre of your sound. Also the FX and filter section are some of the best I've encountered yet. I wonder how version 2 has been improved compared to the first.

Gladiator is ridiculous!! Warmverb is my favorite fx plugin...check them both!
