Jane-Finch area now "renamed" as University Heights

i'm of the opinion that geographical names evolve organically. so i don't know what's up with Toronto City Council's lame attempt at rebranding low-income/at-risk/pre-gentrified neighbourhoods with these self imposed and artificial names.. but this one definitely takes the cake:

I think out of all the new names they could've come up with....University Heights is pretty "unsuited" for that area lol....

It�s just one of a rash of areas suddenly being renamed or having the word �village� tacked on the end of it ala Liberty Village� and it's getting really tacky

A lot of Yorku students live in those areas, but I don't think that is enough to rename it.

Now that I just saw this picture, it seems like such a slap in the face of the residents of that area, where I am assuming the university attendance rate is not that high.

I highly doubt it will send a positive message through the community to try and go to post secondary school.
