Microsoft Windows 7

I am getting ready to install it within a virtual machine but was curious if anyone else has tried it out. If you have installed it, what do you think?

Posted by Ek0nomik on Jan-10-2009 19:33:

I heard it uses less memory than Vista. I have only seen it in use, I haven't used it myself.

Linux still works for 90% of all home computer users.

installed everything work's and everything is faster; boot\shutdown\program's loading. Vmware is cool. I use to to run leopard, But its going to be crappy without c1\graphic support.

I'm running it at work, its nice and fast, I havent had any problems with drivers YET. Its definately better then vista. I'll be installing it on my laptop once its out of beta.

They are using teh same platform er system er whatever as vista. So anything that is vista compliant works on 7. ima wait til summer then install over my vista and use it permanently.

From what? If from Win2k, then okay, but if from 9x, then you fail.

and then you gotta find a new OS or buy W7? That's pretty discouraging

In my experience, MS betas usually function for 180 days before they bomb out. A new beta will be out before then though and they could have a bomb earlier than that since this is a beta and not a Release Candidate.

just create a new partition on your HD if you want to try out W7

No. MS goes through about 3 beta cycles, and then 2-3 Release Candidate cycles. So that would be about 1 year of testing before you are required to buy an OS.
