new album purchase???

need some feedback on a good markus schulz album to get started with.

Posted by nefardec on Jan-11-2009 02:14:

i would say: elect not to start with markus schulz.

Coldharbour from '04 would probably be your best bet. He's changed his sound since then, but check out Miami '05 and Ibiza '06 as well.

thank you

This is like the mind-control camps in middle east.

Your phrase. Somehow sounded like it. I mean the guy just asks for a Markus Schulz album and you say with a loud voice "I WOULD SAY: ELECT NOT TO START WITH MARKUS SCHULZ". And then the guy would turn scared and say with a trembling voice "s-so what do you suggest s-sir?" And then a victorious smile would slowly show in your face before shouting something like "START WITH SOMETHING REALLY ENTRANCING. SOMETHING BASIC. BASIC CHANNEL...!" and then the guy would fall in your feet screaming "THANK YOU FOR TEACHING ME ABOUT THIS GODLY MUSIC MASTER NEF!"

ha...you already have delusions of grandeur you cunning techno-phant e?

Oh yeah. Because the...

-Hey guys whats up! Can you recommend me a Markus Schulz album?

-"I WOULD SAY: ELECT NOT TO START WITH MARCUS SCHULZ"

Its a pretty standard and normal response...

Just Kidding eh? PLUR (always)

Posted by nefardec on Jan-11-2009 04:57:

no, more because you actually took the time to write out a very detailed and dramatic delusion

sorry if i didn't hear the 'kidding' part in your derisive reference to middle east terror camps

big love

You can also imagine it in a cold robotic voice.

-I-WOULD-AY-fshhE-LECT-NOT-TO-START-WIFSH-MA-RKUS-SHULZ/END-OFTRANSIMISSION/

This would also be more techno-y

Posted by Chimney on Jan-11-2009 12:40:

How the hell did this thread become from a guy asking suggestions to a battle-ground between two other users?

Get started with his album "Progression" and his other producer-albums and see if his style is something you would like to follow in the future.

why do you caps his words as if he were shouting when all he was doing was giving the guy some honest and sound advice? Only you envisioned him to be saying it in a loud voice. I would describe nefardec's tone in that situation being "take it from me...if not you can listen to Markus Schulz all you want"

Perhaps, just perhaps, this all could had been avoided had someone given the OP what he wants instead of posting bullshit.

on the other hand, it made the thread rather amusing

ot: you could also listen to the older GDJB shows from Markus. Haven't listened to them myself, but I've heard those should be pretty good

Can't argue with that.

Agree with that...also its not a bad idea to check out "Progressions"...a few good tracks in there

Posted by SMC on Jan-11-2009 16:05:

I would recommend staying away from his artist albums in favor of most of his remix work. His mixed compilations are nice, start with "Coldharbour Sessions 2004", undeniably a masterpiece of mcprog.

If it's an album you want... well, he only has two. Flip a coin:

Heads - Without You Near
Tails - Progression

If it's his DJ mix CDs you want... well, he only has four (okay, also a couple from ages ago, but most agree his career took off with the first Coldharbour). Roll a die:

1 - Don't get anything
2 - Coldharbour Sessions 2004
3 - Miami '05
4 - Ibiza '06
5 - Amsterdam 08
6 - BUY THEM ALL!
