+1

That definitely sucks. Good luck with that.

and yes, i've been here since 7:30...it wasn't that bad outside. But then again I was only outside for a total 15 seconds.

5 seconds walking to the car, 10 seconds walking from the car to the office.

You're all a bunch of complainers!

Yup and looks like tomorrow is going to be colder.

But I walked to work and didn't find it that cold. It's all about dressing appropriately.

First off my car wouldn't start... and I'd have about ten blankets on my bed.

Out west, majority of people actually plug in their cars overnight. Most parking lots of outlets to do this as well so your car will start the next day.

I remember growing up in Calgary and we'd always plug in our car in the winter.

Cold-weather records shattered in 6 Manitoba towns

After a stretch of bitter winter cold, southern Manitoba is just a couple of days away from more normal weather, says CBC meteorologist John Sauder.

An Arctic ridge of high pressure brought clear skies and light winds over southern Manitoba on Tuesday morning, producing cold temperatures.

Morning lows were in the 35 C to 40 C range in most localities, with Sprague in extreme southeast Manitoba registering an exceptional 43.8 C. Other spots hitting 40 C in the morning include Bird's Hill (40.5 C), Piney (42.5 C) and Indian Bay, near Falcon Lake (41 C).

Officially, at least six record lows were set Tuesday over southern Manitoba, including:

* Sprague, 43.8 C (41.1 C, 1979).
* Pinawa, 39.4 C (38.3 C, 1979).
* Gimli, 39.3 C (37.2 C, 1972).
* Gretna, 37.8 C (34.8 C, 1999).
* Fisher Branch, 38.3 C (37 C, 1988).
* Pilot Mound, 35.3 C (-34.3 C, 1972).

Temperatures are expected to moderate by Friday, when the high could reach 12 C, and over the weekend.

Those are actual temperatures, not with wind chill.

Posted by UmmiE on Jan-14-2009 17:54:

I almost froze yesterday 9pm after leaving from ryerson the walk up to Dundas station was the most I walked all week in this weather

Posted by Owen M on Jan-14-2009 17:55:

i just got home from a walk to the bank. Lots of layers on top, but only one pair of pants...not a very wise move. If i was outside any longer, I would have done some damage to my unit.

long johns & extra pants on my next snow walk.
