house or tech.... what makes you go out???

You choose.... what pulls people out....

what about trance?

Posted by GUBostonDubs on Jan-14-2009 19:12:

both for me.

I like to hear housier deeper grooves earlier in the night then when the party really gets going techier tracks

we can include trance why not just that trance events in the city are far and few in between.

Subtle Superiority

Techno, and networking..

Really, anything that adds to/expands/challenges my concept of what music is + has a solid bass line is enough to get me to go out. So in that regard, techno, tech-house, and microhouse WIN.

Lately, glitchy, trippy, dark, bassy techno has had my full attention

e.g. Sasha - Who Killed Sparky? (Radio Slave's Panorama Garage Mix)

107 Who Killed Sparky (Radio Slaves Panorama Garage Mix) - Sasha

So broken, I love it! .

Trance is aaaight too . Any trance events I hit up are usually for nostalgic purposes. It hasn't changed too drastically over the years... DJs like AvB still produce Robert Miles-esque tracks etc so it's not that hard to go to a Summerstage or Pier 54 every now and then and relive the past a bit. I don't think the same applies for house or techno. They've both changed quite a bit over the past decade or so.

its generally not a specific genre that makes me want to go out, but rather the friends that I know will be out, or a specific dj that I want to see.

Is there an abundance of house and techno parties I'm unaware of?

house,trance,techno,minimal,maximal
dont matter to me as long as the dj and music are good then iam there
but there is a difference between a trance party and a house/techno party thats for sure

When I listen at home I prefer tech house, techno, and minimal. Going out I've enjoyed a wide range of genres including DnB (Dieselboy) and Hard Trance (Scot Project).

+1 it seems like house and tech music have changed their sound so much in the last three years that they've also gained ground in the music world (look at how many more clubs play house music in their sets now). also, the top tracks on beatport tend to be techy house tunes.

but anyways...its all about tech house mixed in with some tribal and progressive house and you've got yourself a night...and i'm there.

Posted by MerkEMusic on Jan-16-2009 09:08:

Being that i posted this thread i feel i must give a response... Im with the tech house peeps on this not just tech house but music that has more of a vibe and groove rather that just a 4 4 kick and melody....to me the baseline makes the music Just my opinion

Thanks to you all for helping me get into the hearts and souls of fellow djs promoters fans and family of EDM...

technooo!!! ... albiet really K'd out

Posted by Neo95gt on Jan-17-2009 02:04:

tech house/techno parties can get reaaallly boring and undanceable real fast if it doesnt have any groove to it.....especially tech house. Prog house is always fun. Trance parties are my fav, always the most energy and dancing

I disagree... Thing about tech house is it still maintains that housey beat that gets lost in minimal and techno sometimes. personally I think it's the perfect blend between underground techy goodness and danceablity... (not a word)
