Monkey Dancer 2 The Mark | Grand Re-Opening Party...

THE GENESIS PARTY
2009 marks a new beginning for electronic music in Atlanta. We are proud to present to you and yours a brand new experience at The Mark Ultralounge. It has been nearly half a decade since dance music in Atlanta has had a club to call its own. With the closing of clubs such as Backstreets,Riviera,Kaya,,The Globe, The Library, eleven 50, Crescent Room, and Wetbar..there has been a huge void left in the scene. The Mark is dedicated to bringing focus back to the club scene, which was and should always be.... about the music. We hope you can join us for our grand re-opening and come check out the improvements we have made to the club.
-Pablo & Hernan

Definitely interested in seeing the new Mark layout. As well as seeing Max, Claude, and the James Talk and JOE RUNDELL duo.

I've been waiting on this for a while, and am NOT disappointed. This is big news for us who want quality music at a quality venue.

there will not be a total change in club decor persay but it will have alot of improvements. We are fixing the bathrooms...adding more to our sound and light show along with a few other things that the space didnt have. We are planning to do more cosmetic changes to the club before the summer.

I THINK WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS BUY OUT AN OLD OPERA HOUSE AND THEN DECORATE IT -- LIKE AN OPERA HOUSE! THEN CALL IT "OPERA". THEN WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS HIRE A TROLLOP-ONLY STAFF AND TYPE IN CAPSLOCK.

Yeah, do all that

I never noticed Wetbar's claimed "renovation". Unless you count changing the name and letting Dave Navarro in for NYE.

... but yea, I'm happy to hear they're addressing the restroom problem.

Someone should recommend that to MJQ if they aren't already buried under 5 feet of overflowing shit.

Posted by Poplife on Jan-17-2009 07:08:

no renovations at the moment...improvements....in all areas....and no dave navaro...only house, techno, drum n bass, breaks, and music of the electronic kind..,

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Jan-17-2009 16:49:

Yea, I was happy with every mention aside from 80's music =P

Posted by Poplife on Jan-17-2009 18:05:

its only once a month

really? I think that is awesome, Masq Thursdays are not the same as they were back in the 90's, maybe this can get big like that was!

cheers,

e

I wasn't old enough to be spotted within 100 yards of Masquerade in the 90's, so maybe that's why I'm not particularly thrilled with 80's

Why has every party in town recently become a closing party, grand opening party, or grand re-opening party?

Because no one in this city can just leave a decent venue the fuck alone--they have to close it down, make it worse, then re-open it as "new and renovated." But I doubt The Mark is going to fall into this category because it has someone backing it that actually knows what a good party and good venue are supposed to be. So, I'm looking forward to making it out to the Mark again, if I can actually get out from under school and work for a night.

Invisible Grin

we will be working on the club up until opening night...but like i said..dont expect a total change as of yet..just improvements. We will be adding things here in there within the next 3 to 4 months...by summer you should have a finished club.

I liked it the way it was. Always had good times at the mark and expect that to continue
