Any tips for Ultra Music Festival?

Either this year or the next, i HAVE to make it out to miami for ultra music fest. I'm 20 years old and turn 21 this april (so i'd be underage if i went this year). Some things i'd like to know is...

1. Should i go this year as an underage?

2. Is it worth it to get vip tickets, and what are the benefits of vip?

3. Should i go with friends that "like electronica" but might not want to go both days, or even for an entire day?

4. Can you leave and come back in the same day?

5. Where are the best after parties?

6. What is the security like as far as getting searched is concerned?

7. When do tickets go on sale and how long does it take for them to sell out (vip and general admission)

Any tips not related to these questions would also be appreciated, thanks!

First. there is a WMC sub forum located just above this thread, this will probably be moved there soon

Yes, everyone must go to ultra once to get it out of their system. Next year just go to all of the clubs. Keep in mind there might be only one or two events outside of ultra you can go to not being 21

2. Is it worth it to get vip tickets, and what are the benefits of vip?
no

3. Should i go with friends that "like electronica" but might not want to go both days, or even for an entire day?
tell them they are going to have to leave early with a taxi to go back to the hotel, kudos for calling it electronica and not techno though

4. Can you leave and come back in the same day?
no, not without re-paying

5. Where are the best after parties?
the only one you might be able to go to is the ultra after party because of age

6. What is the security like as far as getting searched is concerned?
dont be dumb, you should treat every event like the cops are going to be standing right next to you. For gods sake just go and have fun

7. When do tickets go on sale and how long does it take for them to sell out (vip and general admission)

as far as being searched - I have seen lots of different ways. It depends on how busy it is, what you look like, and what the person you go to is dealing with at that moment. I have been patted down intensely and emptied my pockets; I have been simply asked if I had any weapons and when I said no I was let in. It all depends. Just don't be dumb. Don't walk up acting like an idiot, screaming and carrying on.

RTFB Rolf but yea don't be dumb man,I mean it's fun to have your own party favors and all but don't go with the mindset of slingin' and making a bit of spending money because BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING.

Make as many connects as possible and for gods sake GET YOUR FUCKIN' TICKETS! The longer you wait the more expensive they become.

Oh and as someone who's been to two Ultras as an underager I'd suggest finding some of your favorite artists smaller scale shows for those are usually 18 and up.

I'm gonna be 21;can't wait to hit Miami!!!

here's a tip:
don't go

if u are only 20, i wouldnt bother going, unless u live in South Florida...cuz theres really nothing else u can go to

Be prepare to get sunburned, dehydrated , Dirty or wet (if it rains).
Long lines to get drinks and the restrooms

Its been like 4 years since i dont do Ultra anymore

I am heavily debating if I should do Ultra this yr since this is finally my first WMC where I am 21. I might do first day to see Loco Dice Vs Luciano and Swedish House Mafia. Leave early to change than hit up PVD @ Space.

WOW!!! I didn't know that many people hated Ultra

Ultra is overrated, but I would still go for the experience. Mind you, I don't think I would have gone at all if I didn't have a press pass.

Go to Ultra if its your first time, you''ll have a blast

Correct but the majority still attend.

I'm defo gonna go check it out. Have done Global Gathering, SummerSoundSystem, Sensation White & Armin Only (I know not the same concept), might as well add Ultra to the list. I know lots of people slag it, but want to experience it for myself and make up my own judgement

well thanks for the opinions people. from what i heard from people i know, the Hajj to mecca is to muslims as ultra is to trance fans, so i think ill probably head there next year, unless i find someone to go with!

one last thing i didnt really get, during what month do the tickets typically go on sale, and what are the benefits of a vip pass?

I'm a huge Ultra Fan, but everybody knows Trance Energy in Jaarbeurs, Utrecht(Netherlands)is the place for Trance Addicts!!!!

And Tickets have been on sale since November. VIP pass I don't really know much about but from what i hear it's not really worth it. It's better to use that money for other events during WMC....

what time do you suggest to get there on saturday to avoid huge lineups ?

+ what date usually does 1 day ticket come to sale (looking for saturday).

well gates open about noon......depending who u want to see.....u should be able to pick up a schedule for saturday on friday, so u will know whos playing when......expect a line basically no matter when u get there, tho its not quite so bad as the day goes on.....i think the longest i ever waited was like 20 minutes

by the time saturday only tickets go on sale the saturday tickets will cost just as much as both of them do now. Just go ahead and get them both and sell one of them

question: anybody have some good tips for sneaking in a flask into ultra?

Crotch it or get one the size where you can put it in your shoe and walk on it until you get inside.

also.. @ prydz taken off from day 2

been to ultra every year since #2 on south beach.....i love it....an hour is just enough of what i want to hear from each guy these days
