Smile and say "cheese" citations
Have you gotten a traffic citation in the mail due to those cameras at certain intersections and fought it?
I have never fought it because its a loose loose situation, UNLESS you are positve you didnt break the law.
If you fight it though, they will make u set a date for you to come back. When you go back they will show you 2+ different angles of video from the citation.
So yeah, you can fight it. But just be warned they will have the video already cue'd up.
In Phoenix they just put them on certain areas of the freeway to get you for speeding. That's fucked up.
I already saw the video online.
Light turns red as I approach intersection to make a right turn unto the freeway. I pass the line, *snap shot*, stop, move foward to see if any traffic is coming from my left and then proceed turning right. There isn't a sign that says "No right turn on Red" either.
Fight it
the worst thing you'll do is waste time.

There's a ticket for that?
I had to move up to see if there was traffic coming cuz there was a truck blocking my view.
I got a ticket that wasn't even me on the video. Hahaha When I saw the video, it was my brother driving his own car. How the hell did they think it was me, it's a mistery.
Sadly there is, i got one like 7-8 years ago at the street races down here in San Diego. He had nothing on me but that. So i got that ticket since i refused to pop my hood and i wasn't racing at that time.

From what I know of, they will dismiss this. They can't change the ticket after the fact.
Unfortunately, these kinds of citations tend to be more hefty because the city gets only a percentage of the fine and a big chunk will go to the private company that operates these cameras.
I got caught on camera for a not coming to a full stop("California Roll") while making a right turn when it was red. I went to the court to ask for a fine reduction because I thought $350 was too steep. The judge told me that in camera cases, they can't reduce the fine. Ugh.

I just got a parking ticket for parking in faculty parking in school....
w00t.
Someone should take this whole thing to a court
Companies & Cities cannot have any part of the fine calculated in with the intent to earn profit.
The city of SF got in huge trouble a couple years ago because someone was boneheaded and in their budget discussed how much money they expected to make off of parking tickets, intersection cameras, etc etc. The uproar was that the fines are in place to penalize people and not supposed to be a means for the city to earn revenue.
It's actually illegal to see revenue from tickets in that way..
So privately they can, but publically ti's a big no-no.
I am probably making no sense. ignore me.

you're supposed to stop before the line at a red light. if you want to turn on a red, then you can proceed after you've stopped. passing that line on a red is considered running a red. that's what the judge will tell you. in the same respect, if you "run a yellow" as long as your front axle passes the line before it turns red, you're in the clear even if your car is still passing through the intersection when another light turns green.
Here's what you're supposed to do by law that NO ONE ever does. Sucks that you got caught for it.
You're supposed to stop fully behind the line and THEN creep up a little past so you can see if if its safe to turn or not.

My lucky day!
*UPDATE*
Went to court today and my ticket got dismissed! In fact it was already dismissed before I get there!
Anyway, according to one of the sheriffs (BTW... he was freakin fine!) He told me that he viewed the video and upon his opinion, there was no way that I would have or could have caused any kind of accident or damage. He saw that I did stop (a little bit pass the line) and then I proceeded with caution in making my turn into the freeway. However, he said that technically when one crosses over the line, it is considered an infraction but in my case it was OK.
YAY!!!! I'll be getting back my $381.00!!!
Now I'm waiting to see if a get another thingy in the mail from the same corner that I said "cheese" about a month ago!
