what are you drinking? [drink recipes]

So my thread about rare spirits compelled me to create a recipe thread. So by all means, contribute unique, tasty drink recipes that you'd like to share.

I've just made myself a little something, which I have yet to name:

1.5oz Johnnie Walker Green Label (chilled)
0.5oz pineapple juice
0.5oz lemonade
0.2oz maple syrup (just a tiny bit)
a thin slice of lemon
and a little bit of crushed ice

It's so god-damn tasty!

does anyone have in particular, some tasty green label recipes they'd like share?

cheers

p.s. anyone recommend some unique Silver Patron mixes?

that does sound extremely yummy, but I don't have any Kahlua at the moment--but as soon I pick up some I'll be sure to try it out.

I'm on my second glass of the aforementioned drink; me and my buddy are now trying to experiment with some new mixes with Quintessential gin.

I love having the time to just experiment with drinks

its SO yummy! and even with that much booze in it u cant really taste it

my roomate at the time of the creation said he made it but added 2 shots of vanilla vodka to the mix and it was really good BUT i always thought vodka would curdle the other stuff so i never tried it....

Pear vodka, gingerale and a splash of any sort of berry juice. I used pomegranate last night. You can't taste the alcohol at all. Which is probably why it 3:30pm and only getting out of bed now b/c I'm unbelievably hung over.

2.5oz aquafina
1.5oz dasani
3.0oz naya
1.5oz President's Choice natural spring water
0.5oz Toronto tapwater

Mix ingredients in glass over ice, stir, garnish and serve.

I realllly shouldn't be mixing so much, but OH MY GOD this is tasty: we call it the silver bullet with a hint of pineapple

1 part Hypnotiq
1 part Silver Patron
a couple of small slices of pineapple + a couple of ice cubes

shake it up, pour, shot, enjoy

this particular drink has so much potential for creative mixes, so get to work people

Having read this, I believe I am going to make myself another Black Russian.

Me, I'm not into the fruity-tooty sugar drinks. I like some flavour, but I believe that a man's drink ought to be at least 50% spirits.

One of my favourites that the bars never, ever know how to make is the Boston Sidecar:

1 1/2 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Brandy
1/2 oz. Triple Sec (I stick to Grand Marnier)
1/2 oz. Lime Juice (lemon is OK)

Mix with ice in a shaker and strain into a cocktail glass.

This is the perfect finishing move, when you're ready for your "just one more" drink.

Last night's drinks included variations of the following:

5oz Hpnotiq
1oz Pineapple/Orange/Mango Juice
1oz Sprite

Posted by DigiNut on Jan-18-2009 00:17:

Oh, and I finally found that insane drink I got the last day in Mexico (this was what I was talking about on poutine day):

Hurricane
1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Gin
1 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Bacardi 151 or other Overproof Rum
1 oz. Amaretto
1 oz. Triple Sec
1/4 oz. Grenadine

Pour all of the above into a hurricane glass (with ice) and fill the rest with half grapefruit juice and half pineapple juice. Or substitute either or both with passionfruit juice.

If this doesn't knock you out, nothing will.

Been on a dirty gin-martini kick myself...

Dirty Gin-Martini
[for about two servings]
3oz Gin (been using Hendrick's)
1.5oz Vermouth
0.5oz olive brine
garnished with two spanish olives.

I've also been reversing the quantities of vermouth and brine when I feel like something saltier.

Otherwise it's a glass of GreyGoose w/ ice, or some Ardbeg 10y w/ no ice, depending on whether I want something warm or cold to drink.

Holy ass-crackers, that's a lot of vermouth! You know the normal ratio is 1/2 oz. vermouth or less to 2 1/2 oz. gin or vodka, right?

Posted by MattVagrant on Jan-18-2009 17:45:

Heh!

Yeah, a friend of mine who used to bartend reacted the same way.

I actually kind of like it that way though. At her encouragement, I've been experimenting with different amounts of vermouth, anywhere from just rimming the glass to the full 1.5oz... To put in perspective though, I'll drink sherry on occasion (vermouth seems very, very similar), and don't really consider (straight) gin a favourite liquor at all, so maybe that's why the 1.5oz seems okay to me.

Regardless, the New York Bartenders Guide (which I picked up on sale at Chapters 'cause I'm a loser who needs a book to make mixed drinks) breaks the drink down like that. Of course this doesn't prove anything other than that I've not come up with such a ridiculous ratio on my own!
