Review: Louise Nox @ Film

I left Footwork shortly after Joee came on Friday (2:30 am). I could only convince a few people to leave with me. Drove right to Film and walked right into the most packed I have ever seen it (I don't go to Film often). By this time is was 2:45 am and Louise was already on. I pushed my way through the crowd to make my way the front row. I was instantly impressed with her mixing and track selection. I was dancing the whole time I was there. I noticed that all the people who left Footy after Justin and The Junkie were @ film. I took some pictures I may post on facebook when i get a chance. Stuck around until 5:20 ish... shortly after Louise finished.

Was anyone else at Film? What did you think?

I was at Film too....Louise Nox had a great showing...really enjoyed her set...I hope we will see more of her soon, but not at Film...

1. Got there at 1:45....about 10 people in line...they were letting two in evey 5 minutes and it was 25 below outside! I realized that the bouncers were playing a game to see whether you would give in to the cold and grease them $20.00 OR WAIT IT OUT...ABSOLUTE CRAP!

2. The smoking inside was out of control...there was NO attempt being made to have people butt out...

Doubt I would ever go back there!

I also left FW to see Louise play. She was amazing and hope to see/hear more of her in the near future. As mentioned previously the smoking was out of control and would make me think twice about going to Film again.

Way to go Louise Nox! !

Louise was absolutely increadible on Friday night! She drew an impressive crowd for a DJ so new on the scene, and never having even played at Film before.

I've been to Film fairly regularly, and I haven't seen it that busy with such a great energy in a long time. I was in the front, and some random guy yells over to me... "She looks hot, and she plays hot music!". I probably couldn't have put it any better myself.

Yeah, the smoke was out of control, as it often is at Film, but it means that I got to dance my ass off to some hard, dirty beats, I'd go see Louise just about anywhere.

As for the door, we got there early so it wasn't much of a problem, but it sucks that people had to miss ANY of Louise's set.

I was there to support Louise, and Amanda as well... both had great sets.

I hadn't been to Film in almost 2 years, glad to see it still bumpin! Went with some good friends so that made the night even better...

I am fairly new to the scene, in terms in DJ-ing. I have been playing for 18 months. I played at Basement in September and I'll be playing this Saturday up in Peterborough with Hatiras and Flipside, Ovi M, Chris Fresque, Pellen etc.. it's going to be awesome!

both Amanda and Louise's sets were great! They are both very talented newcomers, and i am looking forward to seeing much more from both of them! I never left the dancefloor once during Louise's set. The smoke was REALLY bad in there...i totally agree. And for anyone going to Film for the first time, i can understand being turned off of it pretty easily. I know they are currently trying to change things there.. to bring in a better crowd...and by bringing in DJ's like Louise and Amanda, it seems to be working. It was SO NICE to look around and see a lot of familiar Footy faces best Film experience i've had so far.

Was considering going to check this place out this coming weekend but not after reading the reviews of how its run...

On the other hand...its great to see there's some new faces up and coming behind the decks!! Good luck girls! hope to catch you at another venue sometime soon!

This is a little late, but I really need to put out a great big "thank you" to Iron Mike and Downtown Doug for giving me an opportunity to play at Film.

I thanked them privately on the big night, but after celebrating all weekend long, I forgot to thank them publicly, and that just HAS to be fixed.

Footwork doesn't seem to have that problem. Hmmm... what does Film, Pulse, and CZ all have in common that's missing from Footwork?
