Circuit City is toast
I had a "love-hate" relationship with CC - it was mostly hate, on some occasion I loved hating the store. Next to CompUSA, it held a very special place in my heart - a place I never wanted to visit and tried to avoid at all costs.
Well, looks like the sucker is done and goin' belly up. No Chapter 11, do not pass go, proceed straight to liquidation.
Yes, another one bites the dust. I'd say I feel sorry for their staff but most of them were incompetent, unhelpful, and plain cunts on those rare occasions when I managed to chase one down. The back-office lot, I'm sure, was not much different either. So, forgive me if you don't see me shedding any tears for demise of yet another fucked company.
Well, good riddance and it's been (not so) nice knowing you.

commence stealing
i stole so much junk from CompUSA when it went into liquidation
I went this morning and was not impressed with the 'discounts'.
Ill try to swoop in on dvds
Damnit... of course the Canada stores aren't affected.. no deals for us
You wont see too much of the good stuff discounted that much since the liquidators will buy it all out.. & then you might find it on ebay & overstock.
i was a manager there for 3 years.... sad to see it go but they had it coming
Speaking of which, last night my friend who works at circuit city turned off the back door sensors so we could come in and steal a bunch of stuff. We wanted to be discrete so we put everything into my girlfriends bag that we could, so we ended up with an assortment of CDs and DVDs, wireless networking card, hdtv tuner card, 1tb hard drive, 250gb laptop harddrive, and a few other small items, lol. Was quite a good night.

Can't wait for those liquidation sales.

make sure you guys do research on the product, as in compare prices elsewhere first
when companies do fire-sales like this, they normally jack up the prices so that when 75% off is applied you are basically paying the same thing
when companies liquidate they hire an outside company to come in and manage the "project" its not actually done by circuit city, and they are looking to get them as much money as possible...
I went to the Circuit City on Rt46 by Lace on Saturday around noon. The parking lot was FULL. More people than I've seen at that store. There was some schmuck standing by the side of the highway holding a sign saying going out of business. I saw like 5 flatscreens being wheeled out just as I was looking for a parking spot So I'm thinking great, all the good shit must be gone, this stuff must be dirt cheap.
I get inside and start walking around and I'm thinking to myself "WTF!?", these prices are not reduced at all. I'm a pretty well informed buyer when it comes to most things as I do a shit ton of research on reviews and pricing before I buy most things a couple hundred dollars or more. But yeah, I didn't look much beyond the TV's because that's what I was interested in purchasing but their prices weren't reduced at all.
they brought in an outside liquidator and that's pretty much what they did, I think they worked off of MSRP and applied a sale to THAT price, which basically equates to nothing. But if you put up a sign saying "liquidation sale" the uninformed buyer comes rushing in thinking they are getting a deal without realizing they could buy the same TV they just got for $1500 on "SALE" at Circuit City for $1000 at some other place that's not even running a sale on it, LOL. By the time they actually start reducing prices to something below their normal prices, it'll probably be on whatever junk is leftover that nobody bought at full price already.

I'm probably going to go back and get some more high dollar stuff and ebay it or something. |
